all is going along really awesome - I KNOW there are more lumps in there though, she is trying to rest I guess... I HOPE HOPE HOPE we have some girls in the mix! I will follow up soon... its quiet right now.

wow... these last couple are sure taking their sweet time.... I can feel to definite lumps in her belly - is it normal for it to take this long? Waiting here and I hope its all okay to take so long... the first three came so fast. plus I am waiting on another placenta! Its been surreal!

We have number 4 now - 3 boys 1 girl! I think there is one more hard long lump though! Boy that one took a while! I am resting easier now, she is panting still I bet she is whooped!
Lots of green liquid though... that normal too?
Anyways they are all thriving and yippy! I can't believe it.
Is there anything besides making babies nurse that will move this along!!!!!!

Congratulations on your new litter. I am glad you got your girl. Yes, lots of green liquid is normal during whelping. That last lump you felt could possibly just be the uterus. I hope you got a little rest and I pray momma and babies will do well.

WELLLLLLL..... All is fantastic, except MEEEE
I am sooooo tired.
Last puppy born at 5:40 am - I knew there were five little gaphers!
We have 4 boys and one l'il angel! I THINK- my eyes are pretty zonked right
now.
But I do THANK GOD for a safe and healthy and smooth delivery!
Yipppeeeee - I will take pics after I have a nap!

Oh but she only delivered two placentas is this okay - will the rest come out later...

She will probably pass the rest of the placenta or she could have ate them. As a precaution you should take her to the vet to get examined and get a clean out shot. It can be very dangerous if they retain a placenta but in my 12 years of breeding I have never had that happen.

I am a bit curious about your statement that you had her studded out and you thought you might be off on the dates. Was she not in your possession when she was bred? I am just wondering if she was somehow bred before you thought she was and how that could have happened.

Now your challenge is to make sure momma gets plenty of food. You may have to hand feed her the first few days. Make sure she is eating 3 or 4 big meals a day. The last feeding should be right before bedtime.

WOW! Her eating is no problem at all - she is ravenous, she ate during whelping - I gave her vanilla yogurt ( I was not at all anticipating that we would be welcoming our arrivals into the world last night and today ) and this am I gave her a bowl full of watered down food and she gobbled it right up. She is eating really well!
Sometimes when the pups came out I thought they looked stillborn, especially the first one, he really scared me, he was gasping for what seemed liked forever and a day and finally as soon as the second pup was born he seemed to come alive and quite well and loud and wigglin around like crazy...but they always perked up, and I had to cut all of the cords which was a HUGE CHALLENGE!

When we bred her we took her to a friend's home and left her there for a week, and they first tied on January 8th - now quite possibly they tied while my friend was not around - which I would never recommended but these things can happen... and we then had the stud here for a week and they tied twice - once on Friday the 9th and once on Saturday the 10th.

But all seems really well, pups are eating well, I have a heating pad under a blanket in her bed ... granted I was scared to death half the time last night and I am glad that is done!

I imagine they did breed when your friend was not around. I am just glad things went well. Just keep a close eye on the momma. I recommend taking her temperature twice a day. If she was to start getting a uterus infection the first indication is temperature above 103 and loss of appetite. Also keep a close eye on her breasts. If they start getting really hard or red that is a sign of mastitis and she might need antibiotics. I have also read that a cabbage compress works good for hard breasts. We will be looking forward to seeing pictures.

I have four Yorkies, three girls and a boy. This is our first litter of puppies.
Now we have NINE!

No I am not keeping them - well.... maybe ONE!!!
