Blue Puppies Hello I have just spoken to a very experienced person who breeds and is a three times Crufts judge, about blue puppies. The advice is do not breed from that combination again and find pet homes for all puppies born from that combination. Do not breed from any of those puppies. djm

Update on the original blue pups of my friend. These pups were the true blue look. They were like the color of the sky on a stormy day. I was looking on some of the postings on this tread and saw a few pictures of some pups that they said were blue. My freinds pups never looked like that at all. They did not have the tan. Everything was blue. as far as the update on the pups. Well one of the pups is doing great. But the brother she has spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars already on him. He started loosing his hair around his eyes first then it went to his ears and then to his face. He has been sick several times. It seems he is always on some kind of medicine,. Of course is cute to me I think all animals are in some way cute. But to everyone that sees him they say what is wrong with that dog. They think he has the mange. It is sad for him because no one but family want to touch him. So please spay or neuter the pups and dont breed those parents again. It has been really hard on us watching this little guy go thur all this. But he loves life and he thinks he is the prettest one in the family Hey maybe one day he will turn into a beautiful swain.

The sickly boy has the alopecia gene and the other may or may not. Either way, the sickly one will most likely continue to have health problems especially skin. He will need sunscreens and special hypoallergenic foods. These are from my experience and I am certainly no expert but that baby should stay with them and be loved for the sweet little being he is. There will probably come a time when that decision must be made but til then...do not breed the parents together or from the same lines!!! This gene is not always individual puppy contained. The lines from both parents are carriers of the gene. This is a sad message but I mean it to be informative. Love that baby for as long as he is comfortable...

Hi again. The puppies are doing just great so far!(10 days) I have discovered they are grey but have reflects of brown all over so, they are blue/fawn, and are becomming darker. I have done some reaserch in the web and find out that Melatonin is a drug that works in some cases, when and if the hair becames to fall. Not all the blue/grey/fawn dogs are afected by Color Dilute Alopecia (CDA) but , those who are, show signs by 6 months to 3 years, less severe in the darker ones . And 3 healthy years is a good reason to be alive. The firs litter of this female was whit another dog and went fine; this dog now, well, was the last. I will keep you posted if something comes out. Thank you all for your concern. We are all learning. Marina

Whispersmom or yorkie rose can you look at the pics of my little one , he his posted on here, he had a little hair loss on the tail mostly .you can not tell by looking at him though , it has grown back in right away but is coarser, 1 of you mentioned certain foods hypoallergenic would this be something to give him or not being he is otherwise healthy, have had him to the vet several times all is great except his little rear end lossing the hair. He is such a sweeite and a good boy already staying dry at night in his playpen could send other pics if those are not good enough for you too see his color.
