| Anywhere that sells multiple breeds of dogs, sells "designer" breeds, and has dozens of puppies available at a time screams puppy mill or broker.

| My opinion is that all of those sites are shady. Most don't have sire and dam pics and they take credit cards and ship out, no questions asked. You have no idea what quality or temperment is in the family lines at all. I personally would not buy over the internet unless it was from a reputable breeder here or from another yorkie forum that I belong to. As a future yorkie breeder, I would never put my dogs on a website with credit card and shipping options like they were a clothing item or other retail item. You have no way of knowing anything about the potential buyers that way. Also, with a lot of sites like that, you may get a completely different dog than the picture shows.

| Look for some where in driving distance also not all of the that asvertise designers or mixed are puppy mills i do two breeds yorkies and yorkie poms and i expected just as much as i give to my new puppy owners. So dont settle for little communication, and no money put back in the puppies, they should have their registrations for no additional fees, their first vaccines and deworming, a health exam, a warranty of some sorts and i think all pups should go home with some food. I also give life time breeder support so thats something else to look for....remeber your spending the time and money, and these are their babies there should be lots of open communication and love on both sides |

| Sorry, didn't mean any offense-- designer pups are just one of the big warning signs when taken in conjunction with other warning signs-- like having tons of dogs, multiple breeds, being located in puppy mill states... The advice to look for somewhere within driving distance is probably the best you can get. That way you can actually go there and inspect the place yourself. As a warning, some of the shady people will offer to meet you halfway at a parking lot-- I would never, ever buy a dog from somebody who was not willing to let me pick them up directly from their home.

no offense taking..just another view offered =) you right though i think the people breeding the mixes alot and offering them for the same price as the purebreds or ,ore are red flags 800-1200 is crazy i think if you breed two or 3 different breeds thats ok...unless you have multiple breeders in each group there is no way you can care and love for all of them enough and you know most are outside in a pen. I love several breeds but i know that i cant care for tons and i havent studied enough on other breeds to breed them. I breed what i know. I have 2 yorkies a pom and a yorkie pom and thats a handful for me and my household..lol im sure there are exceptions to every rule or household though shipping scares the cap out of me but another part of me would love to pick up a surprise puppy at the airport... I have thought about offering shipping but thankfully i do well selling here i have 2 puppies now and i will another littler of yorkies in 2 months ( i was trying to keep them separated this time but they are very determined little buggers) i talk to my customers usually for several months so i get to know them and make friends with them first. Sometimes i do meet them further along but i have an application, with referal required and sometimes its enough that they listed people. Most people who arent serious will just pass an go on. I have contracts for everything, the deposit, the health guarantee and the purchase. | |

| No first hand experience with the breeders, but there are lots of red flags on those sites...purposely breeding mutts, some of the dogs don't appear to meet breed standard, very high number of dogs on premesis, lots of litters in a very short time frame, breeding to produce extremely small dogs. If I were to run across a breeder guilty of even one of those characteristics, it would be enough for me to keep looking. IMO, there is just no sense in settling when there are responsible, ethical breeders out there. |
