| Here is some more info: Illinois needs your help. Whether you are a state resident or not. Whether you are a pet owner, hobby breeder, show participant (in any venue) or just a person who wants to be able to have a dog or cat in the future and by it from a home breeder. the ILLINOIS HOUSE BILL 0198 will eventually end all that. (Read bill at =http://tinyurl.com/alads2 or look for House Bill 0198 at ilga.gov) the synopsis of the bill looks harmless but the total bill is where the burdensome legislation is found. This bill will hurt responsible owners and breeders of pets. This bill states that anyone who owns three (3) females with the purpose of selling offspring will be licensed and inspected. It will require all breeders to comply with expensive standards in the bill and will force ALL breeders but commercial breeders who are already licensed by the USDA and under the Illinois Animal Welfare Act to shut down. This bill has so much more that is not good for the future of pet ownership. (To read more please go to SAOVA, The Sportsmen's and Animal Owners' Voting Alliance click on legislation and scroll to State legislation =96 Illinois HB0198, you can also get the emails and phone numbers there too)House Bill 198 will be going before the Illinois House of Representatives BUSINESS and OCCUPATIONAL LICENSE COMMITTEE Tuesday , February 10th, 2009.You do not have to email or fax a lengthy letter (although I have included with an attachment some sample letters that can be used),You only have to put in writing that YOU OPPOSE HB 198 in its ENTIRETY and you ask the representatives to oppose HB 0198. There should be no compromising with the language it is a bad bill.Over the weekend please email and fax the following democratic committee members, and if you can on Monday call and voice your opinion. Representative Robert Rita (D, 28) (217) 558-1000 / (217) 558-1091 FAX robertbobrita@aol.com Representative Edward J. | Also, another piece on their agenda Anyone who shows in IL may want to look at this also. ILLINOIS LEGISLATION Illinois. SB 139 Animals-Torture-Not Dock/Crop Introduced by Sen. Terry Link (D, 30) SB 139 would remove the ability for veterinarians to crop ears or dock tails of any animal unless a medical reason exists. TALKING POINTS The language is unclear whether preventive reasons, i.e. preventing future injury in thick brush in the case of hunting dogs, qualify as a medical reason to allow tail docking. The proposed law is actually unenforceable as there is really no way to determine if dogs were cropped/docked prior to passage. This is especially true in the case of rescue dogs where no history is available. Passage of this law would make it impossible for out of state visitors to bring cropped/docked breeds into Illinois for trials or shows.

| Thanks for posting this!! These bills are spreading like wildfire. We all need to stand together and fight unless we want to see and end to all dog/pet/farm/horse related activities. Not to mention that it will be almost impossible to get a quality, healthy Yorkie or any other breed, and you will be forced buy at the big box pet stores.
