| ![]() Do you have a morkie? I would like to know where morkie mom's got their morkies, ie: a reputable morkie breeder in Vancouver, B.C. or nearby? * As a post script * I would like to get a morkie. I know they aren't registered and are a mixed breed, but I don't think that means that all breeders are not reputable. Please do not post back with a debate about breeders of mixed dogs. I have a rescued dog already and I really, really would love a morkie from a reputable morkie breeder. |

A reputable breeder breeds dogs that are registered , a reputable breeder does not breed mix breeds. Make sure the "breeder" isnt in it for money, not mutt will look the same so you may get a dog that looks pure yorkie or one that looks pure maltese. I would suggest not going to a so called "morkie breeder" and look through rescues. Last edited by Keely_momma; 12-09-2008 at 05:47 PM.

| ![]() Hi Keely_Momma, I did read your posts in a "rant" so I have carefully read and considered your views. I appreciate your viewpoint, but that does not mean I have to adopt it myself. My posting was addressed to morkie moms in Vancouver, B.C. who already own healthy, happy morkies, and inquiring as to where they obtained them from. As you do not have a morkie yourself, then you cannot answer my question. |

| ![]() Hi! Sorry if you're getting the run around... some people get a little bit too "wrapped around the axle." I have a Morkie and I got him from a breeder who breeds Yorkies. Her daughter breeds Maltese puppies and one day when her daughter was over for dinner, they had a little "accident." She thought they turned out so adorable and had such a good temperament, that she decided that she may sprinkle in a few more Morkie litters in the future. Here is a previous thread that I posted about my Morkie Beau http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/my-...rkie-beau.html I see them in the newspaper from time to time from breeders who have purebreds and have decided to mix them up a bit. Good luck in your search!! I'm sure you will find just the right dog that will steal your heart! ![]() |

| ![]() Just don't be fooled by the hybrid vigour claim of many mutt breeders. I do pet grooming and groom many mixed breeds many of which have temperment and health issues including genetic ones. For genetic issues, don't forget genes can match up from each parent in a mix and those combinations don't care if they are in a purebred or a crossbreed if they are the right ones to manifest the condition. Ergo I have seen yorkie/maltese mixes with liver shunt and jack russell crosses with Legge-Calves-Perthes and mixes of many breeds with blown knees before they were 3 years old and spinal problems that had to be put down by age of 6 years because of severe pain that could not be managed. Good luck in your search but regardless of what you are searching for, be informed and search wisely. |

| ![]() I think that a dog can have problems whether it is a mixed breed or not. being purebred does not equal perfect i have had 3 dogs total in my life two of them being purebred dogs and my mutt out lived all three of them. i feel that some people breed dogs just for money and some don't. that has nothing to do with the type of dogs it has to do with the ethics of the breeder. and if you do research on dogs you will see that a real mutt is one of which parentage in unknown or a result of inbreeding. also if you do research on Yorkie you will see that in developing the breed many different breeds of terriers (and some believe even the Maltese) were used to create the dog we all love now. many purebred dogs were once considered mutts. look at the Irish Wolfhound (clearly the result of mixed breeding). i for one love Yorkie and i love Morkies also and i have chosen to get a morkie after a lot of research and have found that the two breeds have a lot in common. i just feel that people should do research on any dog before they buy one. and anyone has the right to get any kind of dog they want without being critisized. you chose your baby because she was the one you wanted. what if everyone you talked to before you got her told you not to get a little dog because all they do is yap all day and they tried to make you feel bad for your desires. think about that before you offer "advice" next time. i am not trying to be offensive but i have been hearing this too much on here to not say something about it. ![]() |

![]() Remember, our yorkies are mutts, they all came from mixing breeds to get the yorkshire terriers. Believe me, I have seen a lot of "so called yorkies" that don't even look like a yorkie to me
