large litters?

It was a bit scary for the tiny boy for a couple days.
I had to supplement 3 for a couple days...Then all was well
Nala had no problems what so ever...during her pregnancy...whelping or after.
Other then she was so sick of diapering and nursing puppies by about 4 weeks...lol
Nana had to go on Poop patrol and mushy food to help out

Oh wow 8! Wait until I tell my mother, she will flip! I'm glad to hear that all went well both times. That is encouraging.

One of my females had 8 puppies. The 8th one (the tiniest one) died on my way to the vet to get their tails done. I had been feeding him, and I knew he wouldn't make it since he wouldn't eat by himself and mom kept nudging him away from everyone else. (Just had a feeling) The other 7 did very well and all went to good homes. That was her first litter last year and I hope she doesn't have that many next year! I would rather them all be healthy and strong

Chizziewink had a litter of 6 back in April. Chizzie did fantastic - it was a long delivery with plenty of "resting' between pups but all went well. Chizzie nursed all of her pups and had enough milk to let Chattie's pups have an occasional snackiepoo. Chattie's 3 pups were born 1 1/2 weeks after Chizzie's 6.

Eclampsia is caused by the failure of the parathyroid to release calcium that is stored in the bones. It usually occurs during lactation when the call for calcium is high. It will begin with a slight weakness, move to tremors, and end in collapse when muscles start shutting down. It can result in death as the heart ( and all muscles) requires calcium to contract and will stop beating. Knowing the early signs of eclampsia is vitally important as once it starts the dog will go down very quickly. Internveinious calcium treatment is required to save the dog in most cases. Once the bitch has had eclampsia there is a much higher chance of reoccurance.

I googled eclampsia and just read as much as I could...

If anybody else has experience with this please post your advice as well...
