I might add as well I don't know where you can find a "yorkie" in any way (unless from a shelter) for $200. I know for a fact mine did not cost that!

I am not seeing that......I have seen and had a yorkie with a puppy cut and I am sorry his whole facial and their whole facial expressions still look indeed like yorkies! I will say that my lil ones ears are not standing up right now.....due to teething......butttttt if they do or don't they still are not as large as your pup's ears. I'm totally lost at where you think your pup any shape or way looks anything at all like a yorkie whatsoever!
You are entitled to your oppinion. Guess I will have to take photos with a ruler next to them showing exact measurements to satisfy you. that would not work either because I am sure I would be accused of using a fake ruler. Both Parents are AKC yorkies as well as grandparents etc. what would you say she is? A chiwawa?

Zane, You've been very congenial throughout this discussion, even with the negative attacks and (in my opinion) harassment from some. Good Job!!

wow, i did not realize how costly it could get. the (nonrefundable ?) deposit alone for a future parti puppy is $1000 on that other breeder's site.. i can see how the OP would have incurred 30K of costs for her pups and business. Thanks to the OP and everyone-- I personally love the Yorkie standard, but I'm learning a lot from this thread and the links posted.

Thanks but it is amazing at the ignorance and missinformation that is being spread. I still say the solution is simple if you do not like them do not buy them. There is no worry of them ever competing against a traditional so work at breeding the best traditionals you can if that is what you like to do.

Yes and in the cost of a C-section can be up to 2000 in the Tucson area. Ad that into the cost that may occur. The non refundable deposit is refundable if the puppy Dies from every breeder I know. That or they give you a choice of a different puppy.

I don't think anyone really knows how "crowded" the genes in our traditional yorkies are, we only know and see that these off colors are popping out of traditional lines.
Sue, I was not referring to color genes--I think you are missing my point. I was generally speaking. Color aside, would you say that the majority of Yorkies being bred these days are good representations of the breed standard? Is it not TOO common that many times the dogs being produced these days stray from what a Yorkie "should" be extremely? This comes from overbreeding, from inscrupulous breeders who flat out don't care but just want to make money off a trend and the popularity of this breed. It's a result of the "more breeding the better" mentality. That was what I meant.

No, it would be responsible, just as it would be for ANY breeder. Good breeders are generally concerned about the health and well being of the dogs they produce even long after they leave to be with their new owners. One way that they go about doing this is by limiting the registration on their dogs so that the line they have worked hard to create does not fall into the hands of someone who is going to ruin what they have created and damage the breed by breeding it without promoting good standards. On occasion, only when they have produced a excellent specimen would do they then consider placing the dog with someone to be bred or shown on full registration. And even then it isn't to the first Tom, Dick or Harry that comes along offering to buy it, no questions asked.

This is what RESPONSIBLE breeders do. I think you would be hard pressed to find many, if anyone here, who would state otherwise. If you choose to do that, that is your choice and right but to me, that alone speaks volumes of a breeder. I am not going to try to discourage you from breeding off-colored dogs, on the contrary I would urge you to stick with them rather than the standard colored ones.
