| question for breeders about contracts? How do you go about writing a contract? how do you say what you want in it? what's the most you can do if someone breaks a contract? I'm ttrying to write a contract up for my puppies but i want it to talk about the price, fixing, and no matter what, if the person can't take care of the puppy it has to come back to us no matter what and they cannot give it to a friend. Also, what else do you suggest I put in my contract? |

| thanks! just another question.. is it fair to write that if you can't take care of the puppy for any reason, the dog must be returned but no money will be given back after a certain amount of time? |

| i think so what i would do if i a dog needs to be returned..is i will rehome it for x amount dollars..which wont be what they paid im sure because the pup would mostly likely be older..then i also take a percentage of what i rehomed the pup for, for myself and give the rest to the orginal customer. |

the only recourse that you would have would be to take them to court, but if they no longer have the dog it won't do much good. Did you see the Ellen show where she had a rescue dog that she gave to someone else and the rescue shelter went and took the dog back? They had a clause that said she was not allowed to give it or sell it to anyone else. but the only reason that they knew about it was because she told on the show that she had done that.

this is very true and yes i heard about ellen... I would be afraid that I'd be thought of as a monster if i were to take the dog from another family but I'm just so close to the puppies that I want to be able to know the family and watch them grow up as well. We didn't breed my dog to just breed her and I still don't know if i'll have it in me to give up the pups but if I do, I want to make sure that I can still get updates on the dog frequently.
