| ![]() Yea I can see your concerns. Just for fun. I looked up Sawyer Puppies today to see pups on the site (not to buy one) and I noticed that the site had not been updated since Dec 2008...so I thought they must have been shut down..I continued my research using Carrie Sawyer name and found this site. I saw the bad things and a couple of good things so I decided to join and post my experience. I also like the fact that I can blog with other yorkie owners for any problems, fun and advice..I am not very good with this site yet so not sure if I am in the correct location to respond to you. I also have found a whole new site the Puppy Matchmaker which is now her new site. If I were in the search for another Yorkie, after reading the reviews, I would now be worried and would probably look elsewhere for a yorkie. Maybe they were better four and three years ago or maybe I was just very lucky..It is also concerning that the site changed from Sawyer Puppies to Puppy Matchmaker,,What happened in Dec of 2008 that caused the change...I would be interested to know.. |

No, the Sawyers weren't any better 3-4 years ago (you got lucky), and I doubt seriously if anything has changed recently. I posted earlier in the thread, I've been aware of these people for almost twenty years now. They have ALWAYS exploited animals in one way or another. I can almost guarantee you if they don't sell puppies now, they are selling the next "hot" pet trend!

First off, when I first spoke to Carrie it was the day after my other Yorkie was attacked and killed by a pit bull. The Yorkie I saw on her website wasn't yet available and wouldn't be for 1-2 weeks, but I met up with her to see some others she had available. I bought one of them (I renamed him Jack), and a week later I bought the one I'd originally seen on the website (I renamed him Bailey). Jack is the largest Yorkie I've ever had, and Bailey is the smallest. I learned from talking to Carrie that she is not a breeder, but a broker and uses several different breeders; so I understood the whole "matchmaker" thing. Jack and Bailey are great dogs, my best friends. I love them to death. I paid $850 for each. Bailey was a month younger and listed for more than that, but she gave me a discount because I bought 2 puppies from her. Jack is a month older and from different parents than Bailey, and the two have very different personalities from each other. The day I went to see Jack, she said it was his first time to ride in a car (we met in a location near her home that I was familiar with) and Jack got sick and vomited and pooped in his crate. She said she wasn't going to show him to me, but I insisted. She also brought a chubby but very sweet puppy named Pirate. Both were adorable but Jack (poop and vomit notwithstanding) was the one I wanted. I came back the next day and bought him. A week later, she called me to tell me Bailey was ready if I still wanted him. Bailey was having some trouble with diarrhea and she had a vet check him out. The vet prescribed some Flagyl which she gave to me to give him until it cleared up. The problem cleared up in about 2 days. Carrie also gave us a 5lb bag of food (Royal Canin) and all the appropriate paperwork, plus Bailey's Flagyl. The only health issue I've had since was an eye infection Bailey got last summer, which cleared up with antibiotics. Both dogs get regular vet checkups and shots, and both are healthy. I'm not doubting anyone here who says that they've had a bad experience, all I ask is that you don't doubt my positive experience either. I find it hard to believe when someone says Carrie promised them about the dog's size, because I asked her about the whole "teacup Yorkie" thing I've seen on websites, and she directed me to a page on her website that addressed the fallacy of the "teacup Yorkie". But if you say she did, then I'll take your word at face value. By the way, I'm not Carrie (I'm a man!), I'm not a family member of hers, and we don't hang out together. I haven't discussed this posting with her, and was never asked to do this. I'm simply relating my experience with her. The only times I've talked to her was when I emailed her an update on my boys. She invited me to come for a photo shoot to put on her website, but I could not attend that day. I would've gladly attended if I could. My advice to anyone looking to buy a dog is to do your own homework and research. Meet with the person who is making the sale and check out the dogs before you buy them. Don't just go by what you see on a website like this; use it as a starting point to know what questions to ask for yourself or the things to look for. People don't often post the positive experiences, only the negative ones. My experience was positive, and felt it was only fair to let others know about it since so many others are here bashing the Sawyers. But don't take my word for it; check things out for yourself. If you don't like what you see with Carrie, then try someone else. But trust your own judgement before you trust someone else's, including mine. ![]() Pictures of Jack & Bailey are attached.

![]() I hi-lighted the only part of your post that really says it all, she's a "broker." Enough said, she sells dogs for a living. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Donating YT 500 Club Member | ![]() Take a look, one of Carrie's breeder yorkies. This is not the first time she has dumped her older breeders on a animal shelter. I've even known of her requesting a receipt for "donated dogs" for her tax purposes. Not only does she exploit these poor dogs for years, after she is done, she expects a tax write-off ![]() Petfinder Adoptable Dog | Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie | Pryor, OK | Squeaker Squeaker Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie: An adoptable dog in Pryor, OK Small • Adult • Female Email a friend Printer friendly Share on Twitter Share on Facebook Squeaker is 8 yrs of age, approximately 8 lbs, she uses a doggie door. This is a listing for her present owner. Please call Carrie at soonerfrog I'm not doubting your story. Carrie would have to have some happy customers to be in business this long, otherwise she would have moved on to exploit some other type of animal - it's her way of life. Your good experience does not change my opinion of her practices, she is a "greeder" of the worst kind.

I do not trust anyone to sell my puppies, I take referrals but I interview and do the transaction myself if I approve the home including offering guarantees that the new owner can come back to me with any problems.

| ![]() I cannot imagine allowing someone else to pick forever homes for my babies!! I was extremely picky on who they would go live with. A broker is bad news. ![]() |

| ![]() I try hard not to get involved in these kind of post, BUT today this just put me over the edge. WHY would ANYONE buy a dog from anyone off the internet? You are selecting your next child, would you adopt a child off the internet? There are GOOD breeders ALL over and it does not take a degree to find them. YOU SHOULD ALWAYS visit the home to to know the dogs and your next baby! These broker and the Puppy mills that sell to them care about ONE thing MONEY. The puppy has had a terrible start in life without the proper socializing them. After 30 yrs of blood sweat and MANY tears I can't tell you all that goes into raising that perfect family member. WHY should a puppy be shipped from one person to another? Why should this baby have his whole world upside down? Why wouldn't you want to visit you babies home? Besides the health problems that you may have shipped, there are the emotional problems that are underlying in their tiny little bodies. I cry my eyes out each and every time a puppy leaves my home to go to his forever home I have had many of my dog photo's end up on these websites You CAN find a forever puppy from someone not too far away, TRULY!!!!!! sparklingbluyorkies.com |

I also cannot fathom how a breeder can sell a puppy to someone they have never met, just ship it off somewhere and hope what the buyer tells them is true and the buyer has the best interest of the puppy at heart. Doesn't always happen that way but a breeder that doesn't care, the dog or puppy runs a high risk of ending up suffering for it.

| ![]() Bottom line is Breeders like that DO NOT care for the puppy or what happens to it! It's all about MONEY MONEY MONEY. When ALL is said and done a person breeding responsibily will loose money. Breeding is a labor of LOVE With all that is known today, puppy mills should be out of business, AKC and the USDA cannot manage it alone BUT the puppy buying public can! If NO ONE buys from them and NO ONE buys from a pet store there would be no outlet for these puppies. All the people fighting to shut these people down would be able to accomplish it in short time. I keep hearing "But it's not the puppies fault, I just want to save this one" . Does ANYONE think for one minute that these people care why they bought the puppy? It just opens a cage for the next puppy and sucker to come along and another puppy to suffer. Sparklingbluyorkies.com |
