I weighed the pups yesterday. They range from 4oz to 6oz. One of the boys is bigger than all the rest! They are all so cute!! Here are some more pictures, including, all of them in the bowl to be weighed. All together they weigh a 1 1/2 lbs.

I lost my only female about 45min ago. The pups had their tails docked about 8hrs ago and I guess she couldn't handle it. I am having company this weekend and was cleaning the house. I have been checking on them every so often but letting mama be with them in peace since they are bleeding from the docking. I was away for about an hr and came back to my female not moving and barely breathing. They were all on the heating pad but she was cold and pale. So I grabbed the heating pad and turned it up high, wrapping it around her and rubbing her vigorously. She would take a few breaths here and there but never really progressed. After about 45min, she stopped breathing. I did all that I could, so I should be at peace but I am a wreck. I did not have karo syrup or beef liver. I guess I should have had these items on hand and maybe I could have saved her. I am worried about my others now. I have 4 boys remaining, 2 big and 2 small. One of the small ones seems a little pale and cold but is still squirmy. I am exhausted but terrified to go to sleep. They all seem fine, I am just paranoid now. I have the heating pad on high but now mama is panting. I don't wanna roast the puppies but I don't want them to get too cold. I know this happens all the time, but I feel so awful. I just think that if I had came in the room 20-30min sooner, I could have saved my baby girl. Do you think mama realizes that one of her babies is missing? Or is she too occupied tending to the others?

The babies should not be bleeding after their tail docking. The most we ever get is a drop of blood and rarely get that. Make sure those boys stay warm and hydrated and that their tails are not bleeding. If their tails are still bleeding they need to go to the vet asap. What method was used to dock the tails?

I agree, they should not be bleeding after the dock. I wouldn't turn the heat pad up to high ! Low should be enough to keep the pups warm. Sorry about your little girl!

I really would take the whole bunch to the vet and be sure they are alright. I'm not a breeder but truthfully, by your posts you do not sound very experienced and having your father in law dock and do the dew claws when he has no experience with Yorkies well I would have taken them to the vet to be done. It's my understanding that they do not charge much. I'm sorry for the loss of your girl and I hope everything goes well for the rest of them and for your mom. Please consider having her just spayed and as your pet. This is just my .02 and I don't mean to sound fresh. Elaine

| Aww, they are all sooooo adorable!! I am so sorry you lost the little girl. ![]() Done properly, the pup's tails shouldn't be bleeding. Please keep a close eye on them and make sure they aren't bleeding anymore.

Thanks everybody! Their tails are not bleeding anymore and they all seem fine now. The smallest boy seems to not be gaining weight but is very energetic and eats alot off his mama. He was checked for defects and has none. Just the runt, I guess. I'm gonna start a supplement anyway. Any suggestions in this subject? I have seen many things discussed. I did not watch the cutting so I am not sure how exactlly the tails were docked. My stomach is still a little too weak for that, I am building my tolerance level! My stepfather said there would be some blood but the key is to get them to their mama immediately so that she can keep them clean. Looking back on it, I wish I didn't let him do it but now there is no turning around. I should have just taken them to the vet but he used to dock rat terrier tails so I was somewhat at ease with it. ![]() And to jrsygal37, I am learning. I was looking into the ABC's of breeding and was thinking of starting within the next year after I had more education on it. I worked at the vet office for 3 1/2 yrs and know a lot about animals but not every single detail to breeding. I thought I caught my female in heat, just in time but evidentally not, so I ended up with puppies. Once I realized she was pregnant, about 3wks before whelping, I began heavily educating myself. I am using YT as a source and have had great help and no criticism, just support. I understand where your coming from, but where are you supposed to start? You live and you learn and I ask questions! I love my animals more than anything and have their best interest at heart, I am doing all I can to raise these puppies the be healthy. Since I worked at the vet, I still have close ties with them so I can call on them anytime. (another reason why I should have just had the tails done there) Again thank you all for your support and advice, it has helped me tremendously!
