Anyone UP??? Chloe in labor Chloe woke me up panting and running around about 5 a.m. My laptop is next to her whelping box and she is digging and panting away ................ |

So, she is still working on the first - but there is one almost out and shes not pushing. If I take the pup out of he area, she follows him. what should I do? |
I let mine stay with Mom as long as she wants to take care of them. Just keep an eye on him so if she starts contractions again, she won't hurt him with her feet/nails. Congratulations...sounds like the whelping is going great. |
The second one came out and I dont think she noticed - she was cleaning herself, so I lifted her leg and showed her. I put the first one on the heating pad and she is working on the second |

Aww...it sounds like you're doing a great job. Make sure the heating pad isn't too hot for the baby. |

Oh beautiful fresh babies!!!! Congratulations!!! I've had a litter of 4 take from 11:00 at night until 7:00 in the morning, the last litter of 4 only took about 4 hours, so it really depends. You're doing a great job, grandma! |

They are trying to suckle, but cant quite latch on. Any suggestions? Any other thing you suggest that I feed her? My fiance is about to go to work and I cant leave, so I need to make a list for him! |
You're doing great. You can try putting your own spit/saliva on a nipple or I've even used sugar water. I know others have other suggestions also. This is what works for me. Same as with during whelp..some give the mom's ice cream, pudding...etc. I only give a little nutrical because it not only gives them a boost but also has healthy nutrients in it. |
you can feed her vanilla ice cream.....and cottage cheese if she will eat it...im trying to remember....i think vanilla pudding would be ok....and plain yogurt......but def the vanilla ice cream...possibly give her the nutrical on your finger between pups |
Okay. I was giving her small amounts of nutrical during her first puppy - I will give her some more in a bit. |
