| As I previously posted earlier, I purchased my yorkie from them. As you state in your post you have proof that they purchase from a puppy mill, can you explain further. I would really like to know if thats true and if so I would not encourage others to get their dogs from them. My dog has been perfectly healthy, but may be I was just lucky. All paperwork from them looks in order, please respond with your info. |

| Origin of Puppy I obtained the initial report from here and further researched it myself to obtain the official report of origin of the puppy. Mine came from Iowa. Go to this website and they'll help you find the info you're looking for: Home Page |

| Thank you very much for the website info. I intend to research this and will post when I have my answer. Its is something I have had in the back of my mind since I got her but have pushed it aside since she has been healthy but I really do want to know. They do say that their dogs come from private breeders not commercial kennels, as you well know. Thanks again. |

| I am so very sorry that you lost your puppy, that is a very hard thing to go through. I hope that you can resolve this issue in your favor. I think it it very important to remember that a responisble, ethical breeder wants to meet the new parents and deal directly with the new owners to see if they are a good match for their puppy...not just turn them over to someone else to sell to make things easier for them! This is why pet shop puppies and puppies from puppy brokers are never from a responsible breeder. A responsible breeder does not turn them over to someone else to sell because they care too much about where they are going and where they will end up! jmo

I try to tell people, think about this cute little pup that you just got and how you love this pup already, beyond words...NOW...try to imagine being a breeder, helping your momma dog give birth and then help raise this pup...would you...#1 Hand the pup over to a pet store to sell to any person that walked in with the correct $ or #2 Hand pick the new owners your self....I think the answer is pretty clear | |

| Did you ever find a puppy through your staten island contact? if so, who is she and how was your experience? I am in the same position--- want a small "hobby" breeder but without the inflated price that many breeders are seeking after they claim to have "teacups." I live in NYC, so don't want to go far... |

| It's probably too late This thread was just brought to my attention and I hope you didn't get a puppy from that place. I purchased two yorkies with in 3 months of each other. The first died of liver shunt disease and the second has seizures and has to remain on Medication the rest of his life how ever long it may be. Yes they are a puppy mill I did the investigation, too late unfortunetly. But like many a friend got a puppy there and recommended the place. In conclusion my two babies cost close to $3500 and over $15,000 in medical bills and a broken heart that can never be mended. If you haven't purchased a puppy yet I did find a wonderful breeder feel free to write me. Soory I didn't see this sooner.

From the Canadian Kennel Club Breeder Code of Ethics. www.ckc.ca (g) No breeder shall sell or donate dogs for the purpose of their being auctioned, raffled or to pet stores. I;m sure both the YTCA and AKC has similar restrictions.

In February there is a huge National Specialty at Madison Square Gardens where literally hundreds of Yorkies will be shown. This show happens the weekend before Westminster. Here in Toronto a good reputable breeder who does show, and does the health tests et al, a puppy can range between 1500-1800. Toronto is a pretty expensive city though, so maybe outlying regions puppies go for a little less. Hobby breeders need to be no less concerned with the health of the parents and the pups then any show breeder. They need to know their lineage and the health problems with-in it just like any show breeder. They need to breed dogs with-in standard that are good representatives of the breed.

| puppy boutique I did take them to court and won an the sad part was the court clerk told me they are there every week being sued. I found out they were a puppy mill by tracing my dogs papers. With a private investigation degree I was able to located the so call breeder in Missouri. They were nothing more than a puppy mill breeding for money and the poor little dogs are nothing more than a victim giving birth until they can't anymore. None are AKC registered or tested for diseases that are passed onto their babies. They also have numerous people who work with thmassive amountsfrom their homes. I wish I wasn't so ignorant back when bought my two babies from that place. I wish I could put those greedy owners in those cages for life. You will notice if you been there that the owner will never come out to the store front and meet anyone I pray that they will suffer as my littlr boy did from greedy heartless animal abusers. Two years later I finally found a wonderful breeder. Susan from Let's Talk Yorkie and trust me she doesn't give her puppies to everyone. She truly cares about her babies and mommys and daddys and I had to go through intensive interiews to get my little girl from her. But it was all worth it because she is always there for us and year and a half later she still checks in on Lexi ...and supports me through my medical ordeals with Charlie even if he wasn't one of her babies...

| Just a reminder that a stores that sell puppies, the puppies are not coming from good breeders because good breeders want to know who is buying there puppies and interview them. Just about all puppy's sold at pet stores are from puppy mills.

YorkieTalk Newbie! | I did get my pup from puppy botique too! She is perfect in everyway. She is 2 now and is perfectly healthy. Gorgeous coat. One of the best my groomer said she has! I did not know about puppy mills and it would upset me if I supported a mill. I had two other dogs in my life and they were from breeders. I pray to have Deserre with us for many years..... |

| Puppy Boutique Angela I hope and pray she stays perfect, I thought my second yorkie from them was going to be fine... he made it up to his 4th bday with no issues...then he started having seizures. Cost me a fortune to save him and get it under control. They said he has epilepsy and has to stay on medicine the rest of his life. So the first one from them died right after his 1st bday an the second one is on meds and has leg issues from the meds. That was why I did all the research and found out they are indeed a puppy mill. Or should I say purchase puppies from puppy mills and breed them in their homes too. Yes some people may get very lucky and buy one that does okay but the odds are stacked against it. You had no way of knowing they were a puppy mill as I did but it is never too late to spread the word. Yorkies in general like many small dogs these days are over bred and even the best of breeders can only do their best to research their bloodlines. I will stick with a good breeder or getting a rescue over ever purchasing one from a store again. One day the owners of these stores will meet their maker and pay for their greedy money making ways. I found it interesting that the court officer said they are in court daily being sued, what does that tell you...
