Biewer bred to regular Yorkie

There is still some discussion about breeding back to Yorkies. The "splitters" can be registered in Germany. The splitters have some of the best personalities and look like yorkies.

Either I'm getting the wrong vibes, have a misunderstanding of your conversation, or I'm thinking you're being a little scarcastic. What do you mean by Yorkshire Terrors? I think my pets are the sweetest Yorkies ever. They are very well behaved, and they think they're human; I don't think they know they are dogs.

Whats the point of breeding Brewiers to regular yorkies if they come out looking just like that. A regular yorkie????

The reason one MAY want to breed back to a regular Yorkie is to get a particular trait into a line. Say you have a yorkie that has really nice small ears or a great coat or a terrific top line and you may have a Biewer that maybe a bit weeker in that area.. just like breeders always do. The first generation turns out to look like Yorkies BUT then when they become adults and you breed them, they produce a litter that consists of some Biewers and some Yorkies. This brings in a new blood line into the Biewer line, and also what ever desirable trait you were looking for. The next generation produces even a higher percentage of Biewers and I believe the generation after that produces all Biewers (I may not be exact on that, I've never bred past the first generation so I don't know the exact ratio, there are others on this forum with far more experience in this area than I).

can you eventually get pure biewers if you start with splitters?

Yes. It is my understanding that after you breed the first litter of splitters to a full Biewer, the litter will produce maybe one Biewer out of 3.. the next litter, 2 out of 3, the third litter, all three would be Biewers. (that is of course if you had three pups)

The puppies that are born either are pure Biewer (registered as Biewers) or pure Yorkies.. There is a definate formula that others know, I just don't know it.. sorry..

I think the genetics come into play here. If a Biewer is bred to a splitter there is a 50% chance, the litter will be Biewer or Splitters. The Biewer to Biewer breeding is the only 100% guarantee of having a Biewer.
