HAHAHAHA :p:D:p No one can call me all of APRIL. I have dial-up... Gosh ..dont they understand puppies have been coming?!?!?!? :p |
Yay! (Probably) 3 puppies! That is a nice sized litter for a 1st timer; not too many and not to few. At least now with the x-ray done you can relax a little bit at least having a better idea of how many to expect & their sizes. It is hard wondering constantly WHEN..........but hey, we're all here wondering with you, so you're not alone. Try to rest as much as you can in case she decides to whelp in the middle of the night as I hear most of them do. Though I was lucky my first time; she waited til morning.:D |

Wonderful:). Now you see why I posted what I did on the number and size comment to expect from the vet;). I do hope you don't have one that is too tiny in there and that they are all a normal size that Mamma will be able to care for on her own. What they do for their pups is a true miracle:thumbup::thumbup: |
the xray tech told me that molly would have 5 maybe 6, then the vet said we would have 7....I was very confused when I got home...But the vet was right...all were above 3.5 oz. But molly is also a teapot sized yorkie |
I have tried to post this xray but you cannot see anything at all.. I have tried to edit it and everything.. So far no pups... She is still being clingy and Stewie is feeling left out so I groomed him tonight and bathed him in this new shampoo that I got.. He is super soft and shiny.. He was looking great and so I decided to give him a little cheese... He got it stuck on the side of his face and stuck his tongue out as far as he could to get it and it got all wet and gooey in his hair. By the time I got to him, he was eating his hair.. Needless to say he looked a mess.... Anyways, Kallie just follows me everywhere. Her temp is still in the mid 98's but no other signs of labor.. I sure hope she goes soon.. The suspense is KILLING me!!! |
we are on pins and needles right here with you. I hope you get some sleep tonight and that nothing happens until tomorrow. Best wishes.. |
I'm so anxious now that I wouldn't mind staying up all night.. my husband would take off work to let me sleep tomorrow.. Besides, I actually function better on 3 hours of sleep... I am losing my mind right now from this anticipation.. Today at the pet store, I was getting some milk and the nice lady that owns it was showing me the milk. I said well what is the difference between this can of milk and that one.. She said well honey, this one is for cats and this is one is for dogs, that's why it has a picture of a cat and says for cats.. I felt like such an idiot!!! I told you I am losing my mind... Well I'm going to go cuddle with everyone so I will update you all tomorrow....Hope you all have a good night!! |
Now THAT'S funny:D |
I am still checking this thread also.. nothing yet.. I see you might have a tiny.. if you do.. make sure you watch and time how long the tiny is suckling.. I had one that would only suckle for a minute and then slept for 4 hours.. we had to tube feed her every two hours night and day for two weeks.. by then she was strong enough that she would go on her own.. the vet did not think she was going to live.. we still have her and she is going to be two in may.. but it was scary even though I had tube fed two babies many years before that..be prepared for this.. ask the questions now.. ask the vet to be prepared to teach you how.. with tube feeding it is very dangerous.. I worry.. but I always make sure they are whining when the tube goes in.. then I know it is in the right place.. if they are not struggling and whining.. the fear is that it went in the windpipe.. I would pull it out and begin again..nerve racking as it is.. I knew how much she was getting in her tummy..I also weighed her each time she was fed and kept the date and time.. that is a good idea to do anyway.. you always know then..there are many people to ask questions to.. I usually do not answer to many..for we all have our own ways of doing things.. good luck and keep us posted...anne |
I have been watching this thread for the last few days... I'm getting really anxious! haha. |
still waiting.....any word today??? |
Just Checking In...Again Can't wait to hear the news...so much good advice here...hope you can remember everything...sounds like you're getting frazzled. Sending good thoughts your way... :aimeeyork |
Ok this temp thing is just starting to make me crazy... My vet insists that if her temp gets below 99 then she is ready... Well we have been below 99 for several days. Last night before bed it was 97.1 and first thing this morning it was 98.1... If I am not totally losing it, then that is below 99 right??? I hope she goes soon!!!! Like today!!!! Like NOW!!!! My 4 yr old son has a bicycle race at preschool today that I cannot miss. My neighbor will watch Kallie for me but I do not want to miss the birth either.. Oh this is pure TORTURE!!! I don't know how you ladies do it regularly... Hey another question... After the puppies get here, what do I do about sleeping arrangements.. Do I leave puppies in the xpen with mama all night or do I being them into the box in my room or do the puppies need to be sepereated from mama at night?? Kallie is used to sleeping in her crate at night so she doesn't roam free to pee in the house.. Still don't trust her and Stewie completely... |

Oh Amanda, Yes the temp. thing will drive you crazy because its not always the most accurate measure for when and if labor will start.....first off..just to be sure..I always use a dig. thermometer, its faster and is easier to read. make sure its fairly new or the batteries are in good shape..make sure you are inserting it in the rectum at least 1/2 of an inch..I know there are different types of thermometers on the market, but a rectal temp. is the most accurate. This is prob. what you have already been doing?? Don't ever seperate the mom from babies during the first two or three weeks and after that only for very short periods of time. They will nurse almost constantly, if they do quit they usually will latch back on within the next hour or so...If she is comfortable in your room at night then put here there, just where ever you put her, make sure she is safe, free of drafts and protected from any other animals in the house. Monitor the mom at first and see what kind of mom she is going to be..if she doesn't leave them, only to pee and eat then you more than likely can be assured she will attend to them as they need to be, but we always have them in our room at night because thats where they normally sleep...during the day she still stays there and we don't bother her only to chek and monitor things...I hope this helps. |
Oh man, I feel for you I would be going absolutely crazy!! Especially everytime I had to leave her alone. Hopefully it will be soon, we are all getting a little anxious.:D |

It doesnt work with all of them. Some go up and down for a week or more. Been there done that Amanda I know you may worry about her having accidents. But she has to be with her babies....Yes even thru the night. Do you have a large xpen that you can put the whelping box in...and put a Pee pad at one end? This one I have is very large. with the extensions it is about 9'x3' Here it is shown at 6 x 3' They are not cheap...but its cheaper then new carpets :) |
I know that the timing of the birth can be inconvenient, but could your neighbor go to your son's race today while you stay with your mom-to-be? I always tell my grandchildren that a puppy birth is life and death, and that being late to school or missing an activity is just one thing in a whole lifetime of things for them. When Ruby had her puppies, Olivia had to stay home until noon because I felt that it would have been wrong and unnecessary for me to leave Ruby during her birth. I'm not trying to be judgmental, just wanted to offer you another perspective on this. Best wishes to both of you. |
just checking in to see if we have any babies..I also know the temp thing can be nerve racking.. and not know an approximate date has to be terrible for you... still watching and thinking of you...anne |

QUOTE] In this house everyone knows if its even NEAR whelping time This Nana isnt going any where. Same for a week or so after till I know all babies and Mamas are doing well. If its not an emergency... nothing will get me out of this house. And they all know that |
Well my husband was able to leave work for a few and he is at my sons school now for the race. I wouldn't feel right if one of his parents weren't there and other kids parents were. But we worked it out.. I am home now with Kallie and Stewie so I am going to get her blankets washed and change her xpen around to make it bigger. I WISH she would have them now!!! I don't know why I even bother, but her temp is now at 99.3... Hey, just out of curiosity, what do puppy mill breeders do, do they just go out to the cage and find puppies. I can't imagine not being there to help my baby through her delivery.... |
Oh, I forgot to mention.... I have had several people say "I want one of the puppies" as if I wouldn't care to just hand them over to whomever wants them...I can already see how this is going to be hard... Everyone wants one for free or really cheap and it makes me crazy.. I wanna say I'm not selling tubberware here you guys.. Plus I'm not even close to thinking about having to rehome these little guys yet, I need to get them into the world healthy and that is my number one priority.....These are part of my family... UGGHH!!!! Just had to vent sorry!!! |
Good Luck . Praying for a fast and safe delivery. |
