I would think that her showing interest and spending time in her whelping area is a good sign that the time is getting closer, especially if she has not showed interest in it before. Just noticed your new post before this....I'm betting no way will she wait another whole week. Xrays have been known to be wrong; sometimes a pup or two could be hiding behind another. I forgot.....did the vet sound sure about what he saw.....could you/the vet see the puppy skeletons clearly? I know when Lexie had her xray, it very clearly showed 4 pups & that's just what she had. |
I've never had more, have had less :( It is possible to have some hid behind the others on a side view x-ray, especially if it was fuzzy. She is very big in the pics. Be careful with a spoiled Mom. They can tend to want to be with you instead of the babies. |

Ruby's litter was supposed to be five, and she had seven. Coco's litter was supposed to be three and she had four. And these were with both sonograms and x-rays. You can never tell for sure with xray, etc. You will know if there are any more puppies in there. They feel like long, stuffed socks on her sides. The uterus is more like a little ball. But I know experienced breeders have been fooled by this also. I know what you mean by the fear waking you up. However, one litter I actually was so tired I fell asleep and woke up with a puppy mewing next to my head. Mom cleaned everything up and just she and the puppy were left in my bed. That was a singlton too that we had been very worried about. Puppy was fine -- but now I set my alarm. The alternative is just too scary. I'll hang here a while longer....wishing you the very best. |

Good morning Amanda! Just checking in to let you know I'm still here and will check in periodically throughout the day. I sure hope Kallie has those pups soon (like today) for your sake and all of ours.........but mostly for yours. |

NO BABIES AND I AM READY TO SCREAM!!!! She is hanging out in her box and her temp this morning was 99.4....The first thing the vet said to me after her xray on Wednesday was "Well the bones are still a little faint" He said 2 pups and then he stared and said you know I think there might be 3.. He said he thought that they would be here in less than a week and a week would be this coming Wednesday...Based on the bones being so light, does anyone have any idea how far she would have been at the time of the xray.. I can clearly see 2 spines and I think I see a 3rd... Should I take her for another one tomorrow if no pups... |
I would not take her for another x-ray. If I were you, I'd stop taking her temp all the time and go about my normal daily routine and keep an eye on her behavior. All dogs are different, but her behavior will (prpbably) tell you when pups are coming in 12 hours or less. |
Did you rest your hand on her belly for a few minutes? You will feel awesome and elated when you feel those little miracles moving around in there:). I can never feel them until the last week before whelping. |

Ok Ladies... I have never asked my neighbor anything about what he does for a living, but he claims to be a psychic.. He took it upon himself to go and "ask the bones" as he called it.. I didn't ask what that meant, but he came outside and said that the bones said Kallie has 7 more days until her actual due date and that she will go early and that she is having 4 puppies.. Since we have alot of different opinions on how many and when I decided to have fun with it.. Everyone place their bet on when she will have them and how many she will have... Whomever chooses the right day and puppy count will win a special gift basket or box(depending on how difficult shipping is) from me, Kallie, Stewie and the pups... If noone chooses the right day and puppy count, then the winner will be whomever is closest... If more than one person has the same day and count, then the winner will be whomever posted their bet first....Remember the vet said 2, then said 3, and now the neighbor says 4... Have fun and I look forward to seeing who the winner is.... Oh, by the way... No new signs as of yet except a loose stool first thing this morning... |

I say 3 and on Wed. Good luck..maybe it will be soon...I know you are so tired of waiting! Try to be as calm as you can and let nature take its course...you can't hurry it up...it will happen when she is ready and when she starts you can just be there to assist her. |
