Can anyone help?

I am sorry your baby is having this problem. I do know one breeder that had a pup born with a broken leg. Somehow the leg got hung up in a twisted position when it was coming out and the leg was broke. Unfortunately the vets could not fix it but the breeder kept the puppy and it is doing fine. I am not sure what it looked like. Hopefully your baby will be okay.

The vet can probably rig up a splint for the pup's leg. The pup is young and the bones are still soft and hardening. Good luck!

I would have to agree your vet should be able to rig up something.My vet will not just put something down because of a deformity etc,it would have to be life threatening before he would put it to sleep.My vet is a farm vet also and will try it all before he gives up and will put something to sleep.
We raised minis for about 9 yrs and we had a colt once who had a deformity in his front legs because of how he layed in utero,vets came looked and they thought that was the deal with his legs ,and he did come out of it but it took almost a month for him to straighten up on them.He was only 18 inches tall but was a big boy body wise.

I havent put a splint on yet.
Just tape. Its already looking a bit better already!
Since this morning its not curled all the way side ways and flipped in.
At least I think so. Hope its not the shock of first seeing it wearing off
Allie is so antsy with these new puppies , I didn't want to chance her biting it off and something worse happening with that leg.
So I thought for now...just a bit of gauze and med tape.
It does straighten it out.

He was adorable nice blk and white paint, the smallest we had was 16 inches and 20 inches was the biggest, Our stud was only 26 inches.

I took the tape off this morning.
I am very happy with how its coming along with just one day taping it.
Its not turned no where near as badly.
It does look a little smaller then the other leg.
Not shorter..but smaller.I really do think she was laying up against something in utero that caused this.
But I posted a couple pics I just took.
It does look better. Im pleased so far

Allie doesntt like it. thats why I havent splint it yet.Just tape.
I watched her real close all day yesterday

Yesterdays pic..I held her foot out. It looked a LOT worse then that pic show.
It was just like that kittys I'm so happy...she may not be perfect she may even limp a bit...Thats a long way off. But she will be loved

im so glad the tape is working out...all they need is a little love and attention and it looks like you are sure giving her that....i am trying to learn all i can before i get a female....because i would love to have puppies to nurture in my home before they go to forever homes.....i dont want to quote quote breed but list a litter or two and then see from there...it is a while down the road though...i just got my male Last July.....he is my little stud muffin....he just turned 1 so now we are looking for "girlfriends".......just trying to learn all i can

I would not take any more chances with that baby's leg. Please take her to a Vet. and let him find the problem and decided on the appropriate action to take. It could be a problem in the hip or a dislocation. You never know.

I am.....
I changed the appointment until Thurs as the puppies were so little.
None of the have hit the 4 oz mark yet.
I wanted to put off tails and dew claws till they are a day older since they're so small.
No I dont know for sure what the problems is.
But I am doing the best I can with what I have.
What I have is a laid off husband....among other things. :::sigh:::::
Our vet here in the country would not advise spending lots of money to fix this puppys leg. They cull animals here like this.
I'm saving the little girls leg the best way I can and praying for the best.

Your vet may be able to align it real well and splint it for you .well better than you I mean.He should be able to tell if it was just laying in utero wrong also or if it is a deformity.Good luck girl best wishes on this for you.
Layed of hubby UGH I do know what that is like my hubby gets weeks of vacation to take off.I am a home day care provider and it is alike another child here for the day

Debbi.....from what i saw of the pics i think you are doing a great job the little one's leg.....and as for layed off hubby.....well i understand where he is coming from too.....i lost my job last April and i know the financial strain and emotional strain it puts on both of you.......as for me i got my little Smokey in July after i lost my job in April .....i dont know how i would handle it without him.....he has truely been a God send.........they truely are one of God's most wonderful creations.......God Bless you and your family (fur family too)

It looks like an inverted knee cap...but these things are tricky at this age to determine 100%. Sometimes legs are momentarily curled, due to a bad position in the uterus, if so, they straighten by 8 weeks or sooner...other times it is a deformity in the bone or knee cap itself...if it is due to a bad position, it will straighten and stay straight as a rule...if it is a deformed knee cap, it will need splinting for a few weeks to a few months, depends on the degree... surgery is needed sometimes....I have seen breeders ignore this and the knee cap will literally bend the opposite way...my vet said these conditions are painful if not corrected.

Oh Debbi, I 'm so sorry. Just keep working with it. Anything you can do will be an improvement and then see what the vet says. I thought your babies were awfully small (compared to my brutes), glad you are waiting to dock tails etc.
