| thank you Joyce. I think we are on the uphill now. The three remaining puppies are thriving altho I do believe I have another Little Ms. Thang in the bunch. 3.5 ounces. mama is back to her sef and altho she doesn't seem to have an abundance of milk, the babies are growing. I haven't fed them since yesterday. so, i think I can breath now!!!!! |

| Dee, did your vet speculate on what caused the breathing problems before the c-section and the seizures afterwards? I know this isn't her first litter and she had no problem in the past. What was his prognosis?

| I just can't imagine keeping a cool thinking head at a time like the one you just went through. Prayer's coming still for the remaining little ones and glad to hear Mommy is coming back to being herself. Hope you can get a good night's sleep and rest with a peaceful mind tonight. |

| No, he didn't other than the fact that her babies were pushing against her lungs. She sounded just like she was having an asthma attack. I think her age might have had a lot to do with it. She turned five last week and this was to be her last litter anyway. but he almost admitted he overdosed her . that is what caused the seizures. I am beginning to think all he knows is what I tell him. She should have never been put under but i got scared because she had five babies. After the fact, he told me her lungs were clear but I wasn't a nurse for twenty five years for nothing. I know her lungs were junky. I also got scared because she couldn't stand up or walk at all. She has always had five and no problems. |

| I know it must have been frightening for you when she wouldn't walk. Is she on antibiotics now? Did he ever mention drawing mom's blood, spinning it down to a clear serum and injecting it into the intraperitoneal cavity of the puppy's abdomens? It's a way for the pups to get mom's antibodies when they can't get the colostrum. I just learned about it and find it so logical. Sometimes it amazes me what these vets do not know. I'm so glad that your mom and her 3 angels are doing well. I hope you get that show puppy that you have been yearning for.

We had a "fading" puppy a few months ago that died within 24 hours - I am wondering if this was maybe why? Basically, if you aren't there to see the baby born, the mommy could just keep cleaning and cleaning the baby and continue to pull the intestines out, and you'd never "know" why the pup didn't make it. I just wondered how common it is and if there is a reason why they are born that way (genetic, nutritional deficiency, etc). I mean, is there a way to prevent it?
