Awwwwwww but I spell my brookln"n" with two n's lol

I just don't skip and it's worked for me I don't want to run the risk of having deformed babies and run the risk of my bitch going into labor and delivering the first babies being normal and then the last ones coming out underdeveloped due to multiple breedings with days skipped. JMHO

I usually breed day 8, 9 and 11...one tie each day. I had progesterone testing done before hand. Each breeding has resulted in 4 healthy pups.

A toy dog can ejaculate 300 -400 million sperm every day for 5 days without a noticeable loss of semen quality or libido. Studies have shown tha sperm quality and quantity will begin to decline after 5-7 days of daily collections. Fresh sperm will live for at least 4 - 6 days which is why I breed every other day. The eggs take about 2 - 3 days to ripen and once ripe live another 2 days. That means they have 2 days in which to become fertilized so it's good to have a fresh supply of sperm waiting for them.

Well said, I guess we all have our ways to doing things. I know the eggs don't all drop at once so my biggest fear of breeding only one or two times, and if timing is off, you may just have one puppy and that to me puts the female at a greater risk, since singletons have a tendency to get big. During my 10 plus years of breeding Yorkies I have not had a problem with underdeveloped puppies being born. Not to say that it can't happen.

According to Dr. Dan Rice in the Complete Book of Dog Breeding "ovulation is spontaneous in the bitch: all mature ovarian follicles rupture at the same time, releasing their ova into the fallopian tubes that lead from the ovaries to the uterus." It's my understanding that they do drop at once but once mature can be fertilized over a period of 2 - 3 days. Any one else have any findings on this?

My Trixie just had a singleton in Jan.I bred her 4 days..one tie each day.Her puppy was only about 3 oz.I guess I got lucky.She had no trouble delivering her..thank god.

Doesn't matter if you breed one day, skip days, ect...a singleton can be the case at any time....that's why I said mother nature is something that happens but we all do it differently and I have had success the way I do it and yes I've missed a breeding but that's ok it happened for a reason and if it was meant to be then it was meant to be I'm not in this for the money or puppies. If the breeding was missed it happened for a reason and I believe that with all my heart!

If you're brave enough to have 2 litters due at the same time (I'd prefer not to) than you breed each gal every other day. Male with one gal one day, with the other gal the nest day. To me if I have 2 gals that go into heat at the same time it's a good time to give one of them a break so that I can get them off of the same schedule. Three litters a year is nine months of puppy pen use, more if you're lucky enough to get a show potential, that's enough for me!

I can't handle two litters at one time so I would skip one bitch and breed the one I want to have the litter. I work full time and show full time so I can't handle more than one litter at a time!

I have a Brooklyn too, who's about to have some babies...

I named her after the city as well, I think it's such a classy name.
