From what i have read and learned so far the poorer bred the worse health problems the poor little things have :( So i am all for stoping that completely! Good luck with the continuing success it sounds like you are doing a wonderful job:) Hugs Mary
That's the point we are trying to make! Thank you for your compliments and I try to do the best I can and try and educate but sometimes it gets frustrating when I hear well it's my god given right to do whatever the heck I want to do UGH! Just because you go kill someone doesn't make it right in fact you will probably get a life sentence or even a death sentence. So breeding without doing research and studying pedigrees and doing health testing yeah it's your right not to do it but you are also taking the risk of giving a puppy a death sentence. Mary I didn't mean to take your positive post to vent LOL...again I appreciate your very nice comments and yes I do spay and neuter before a puppy leaves my home :) Donna Bird Brooklynn's Yorkshire Terriers |

BTW those out there just cranking the pups out for the money need to think about how they would like to be done that way. Would they like to lay tied to a bed and made to crank out babies every so many months until they are no longer able to do so? And then they are either put down or sent somewhere else to live because they are no longer useful. I DON'T THINK SO!!!!!!!!! Sorry i get a little passionate about some things. I just think if the puppy millers where made to crank out babies they would think twice about what they are doing to these poor animals:mad: Hugs Mary |

You guys all make awesome points...but I just wanted to point out that although I do breed for pets, my puppies are excellent quality. But, for example, 3 out of my 5 females were bought with a contract that ALL puppies sold from them must be on limited registration, or a spay/neuter contract, or both. And there are several people on here who wouldn't have their babies without a pet breeder. I just feel that I'm completely separate from someone who does this all for money, or who is a volume breeder. I test all my dogs, they're all healthy, none of my pups have issues, and I offer a 1 year health guarantee (and I can tell you right now if something came up 4 years after I sold a pup I would probably still give them their money back). I too have a clause in my contract that states ALL puppies MUST be returned to me for a refund of all or part of the original purchase price. Like I said, all of my dogs are within the standard as far as weight and most other qualities as well. One might have a longer nose or bigger ears than the other, but all have nice toplines, a good earset, and have come back healthy in all tests. You can put whatever label you want on me, but I just don't feel I'm in the same class as a puppy mill or BYB who does it all for money. JMHO and I completely respect everyone's views. :) |
Oh Dee i am so sorry that is just horrible :( I hope you find her soon that is way to long for her to not have contacted you:mad:. If i were you that is where i would start at with her last known address and go from there. If there is anything i can do to help please let me know. I am sure there are others on here willing to help as well. Maybe even someone from Virginia that might be able to find out where she is for you. Believe me, I have done everything I know to do. I googled until my fingers were almost raw. I finally did get thru to her answering machine and left a message. That was january 1st. |

* Yorkies are thirty-six times more likely to have a liver shunt than all other breeds combined according to the study done by Dr. Tobias at the University of Tennessee * Yorkies are ranked #4 in cases of luxating patellas by the Orthopedic Foundation of America With the AKC estimating that 70% of purebred dogs come from backyard breeders, not puppymills, the responsibility of producing the majority of those genetically flawed dogs must lie with the backyard breeders. |
I just read the thread from the beginning and I am anxious to hear what happened at the vet and to see the new hair cuts. I Hope you can post pictures and that your dogs got a clean bill of health. Welcome to YT. |
Just letting everyone know that they are still at the vet and getting groomed so I don't know much yet. They aloow drop offs, so I drop them off there and when they are through they call me to come and pickup! |
We are all anxiously waiting. |

And leaving one message won't do anything. You need to become a nuisance. Leave a message every day - every other day....I wouldn't let it go. |

I really hope that you did bring those babies in. Yorkies are not outdoor dogs. as for making a little extra money. hun it could go either way. you may pay out more then you make. but I dont see any problems with saying making a little extra money. Im sorry but there are breeders out there breeding for this same thing. most of them would not even breed if they didnt make some thing. and it just erks me when I see people saying Oh My Gosh make extra money when thats most likely what they are doing. If there was no money in it then we wouldnt have as many people breeding as we do today. |
How did the vet and grooming go???? Update and pics please:D |
Hopefully the vet was a good experiance for them.:) |
I'm sorry, but I have a HUGE issue with anyone who says, "I started breeding to make extra money." If somewhere in the mix of it all you manage to be in the green when it's all said and done, that's a bonus, but when your primary goal in what you are doing is just for income, that's WRONG. :thumbdown |
