Maybe she should be living outside in the 60 degree weather. I bet shes going to eventually get cold.
The whole "extra cash" statement is bugging the heck out of me, so in my mind there is nothing this person can say or do thats going to make me forget that.

If your yorkies don't prefer to be inside with you could it be, perhaps, the lack of socialization? Meaning they have always stayed in an outdoor kennel and are leary of any other situation. That's sad. Personally I would never purchase a puppy from anyone who housed them outside. I think they need the interaction and socialization with people.

Btw mine aren't tiny, but at 60 degrees they still shiver if we're outside and they don't have sweaters on.

To the OP might I suggest that you sleep out there with them just one night and then come back and decide if they should stay inside or outside. Just a thought!

I want money too...that's why I have this thing called a J-O-B. To support my family and my dogs, not the other way around. I heard this crazy rumor once that some people even have two of these "Job-thingys". Crazy, huh? ;)

I have to say though that it is refreshing to see so many people posting so passionately with the best interest for the DOGS as the main concern.

kennel cough can be caught just from a dog running around in your neighborhood and coughing
i had my champion male stole last year right over my fence so mine never get outside with out me ........
as far as breeding for money well i stay in the red with vet bill's food treat's bed's puppy pad's etc etc i have never seen the black as of yet every dime goes back to my dog's not in my pocket

would i buy from someone just to make money no it would worry me as to what if any testing you may or may not have done and what type of care the puppies were given
as far as shot worming etc or is the money just stuck in you pocket to

Hi, I am fairly new around here, but my personal opinion is... Please do not put your babies outside. :( They are like children in a way Also, if you live where you have season changes what will they do outside? Ticks, fleas, bugs, birds, other animals..Better to put them in a room inside the house to breed. These little dogs should not be put outdoors just for some extra cash. :animal36

I have seen people that raise their Yorkies outside and to be honest they were not in very good condition and it was very sad. I do know that some breeders have a separate building that is air-conditioned and heated with runs going out from the building and I could never even let my Yorkies live like that. You say the breeder you got them from left them outside but that does not make it right. Most people just don't understand the Yorkie personality....they are like little people and they need lots of human contact. Please try to figure out a way to bring these little ones inside. It is okay to let them out to play if you have a safe yard but honestly they should not be staying outside for long periods of time, too many things can happen.

Hate to be blunt and morbid but she will learn when a hawk or another wild animal picks up her "breeding stock" and takes off with them and kills that poor little yorkie. Or will this person just feel it in their wallet?

It sounds like these poor things have spent their whole lives outside producing puppies and this is just a continuation of the cycle. :(

What a sad situation.

If you are going to let them come in when it rains or when they are pregnant, why don't you just let them live in the house? I don't care how warm it is outside these are inside dogs!! That is part of having a yorkie.
If you want to make some money, you won't if you do this right. Check out some of the other threads in Breeder talk and you will have an idea to how much money you are not going to make. You don't sound as if you want them for pets so you are probably better off selling them to someone who does.

So...loving homes=kennel living out back? I'm afraid that all these dogs are is a "breeding business." And sorry, but adequately researching, learning about breeding in a mere 3 months...?

Like I said, mine are strictly indoor dogs, but I do have one like what you are talking about. Harley would much prefer to be outside all day. He actually sits on the back of the chair, staring out of the window, looking sad because he is inside. Our new home doesn't have a fenced yard and the house that we moved from a few months ago, had a privacy fence and he was allowed to go out whenever he wanted. So, I understand what you are saying about how they like being outside to play.

One more thing for the OP--"where you live" AKA Alexander City, AL is an hours drive from me, same temp. I sat in my car for 5 min this AM, freezing my butt off waiting on my windows to defrost. "Where you live" has been seasonally warm for a few days, but still freezing outside and far too cold for these little ones to be outside.

Maybe you got some bad advice, and maybe you got in over your head thinking that breeding was an easy way to make a quick buck. If that is the case, please know that I will GLADLY drive to Alex City and pick up these precious angels from you at ANY TIME and find them loving homes.

We are out in the country on 6 acres and when we first moved here 7 years ago, we fenced in area so the dogs could go outside to run and play but I never left them unsupervised. Even with me standing right there they would start eating acorns, sticks, dirt, grass, etc and then come inside and get sick so their outdoor adventures came to a end really quick. Not only that, there are squirrels, snakes, raccoons, skunks and possums to contend with. They will come in the yard, eat to dogs food, poop in the yard and possibly attack the Yorkies. And you are right about the hawks and owls, they do attack small dogs. TOO MANY DANGERS OUTSIDE!

maybe you could contact a yorkie rescue in the area and have them go and check on these dogs. That is what I recently did with a breeder in Indiana. i had gone to look at a puppy with a friend and found the most disgusting horrible conditions and sick puppies with a 24 hour contract. the puppies were very pretty but so sick and were kept in horrible conditions. parents were so dirty, you couldn't touch them. We stopped at a little store on the way soon as we got out of there and bought a spray can of Lysol and stood in the parking lot holding our arms out and spraying each other and using the antibacterial stuff on our hands and arms. it worried me for days and I finally got in touch with a Indiania yorkie rescue that someone here had mentioned recently and they were going to check them out. I haven't back.

Ok first off while it may be done it's not what or how I want to get a puppy. I find it deplorable that you took dogs from what was most likely a BYB start up mill and will continue to do the same to them.

Yorkies are not outdoor dogs. Personally I dont' feel any dogs are outdoor dogs (but that is my opinion). Even in 60 degree weather you might get a cool breeze we know the weather is having a hell of a time making up it's mind.

If you wanted to start breeding then you should have done your homework first, set up your kennel that would be best for your dogs. Not buy some dogs on the fly because they were at a good price and you can make some extra cash at it. That attitude screams BYB to anyone that is contemplating purchasing a pup from you. I pray that no one gets taken by your set up and buys a pup. God speed for those poor babies that were probably just breeding bitches to begin with and were probably retired and now passed on to you to pick up where the other breeder left off.

Don't know how you can sleep at night trying to run such a fly by night and shoddy kennel.

No good breeder makes money at breeding. You might just break even because the costs and risks are high when breeding dogs.

I am not a drinker but after reading this post I think girls I not only need the popcorn but a stiff drink. My heart is breaking for these dogs already. Can you imagine being left outside only to come in if she finds that the weather is bad or if your pregnant. Those dogs probably have the worst self-esteem. Yes yorkies are little people with fur and have feelings just like every human walking the earth.

When I didn’t know any better, I bought my first Yorkie Paris #1 out of a situation like this… she has health problems right now that come from very unhealthy breeding. Someone else who thought they would just do it to make some cash. The problem with people like this is that they are just plain ignorant of what it takes to be a breeder. Things like courage and strength and the ability to know when and how to do the right thing!!

I foresee a future of puppies just like my Paris who may not find a home willing to do what it takes…and I see very sad yorkies being bred over and over and over and over and OVER!...just so someone has some extra cash!

You are doing it the wrong way. It’s disgusting and immoral…and amounts to nothing more than you being a GREEDER…not a breeder. SICK!!
