Thor Speaks Out

That's right, Thor has learned to Speak!

Every time I teach him a trick I think he's achieved maximum possible cuteness, and then he goes and tops it again.

I had some trouble teaching him to speak. I spent so much time teaching him NOT to bark in my apartment, I had trouble finding a good trigger (I eventually found the key: wet paws). Even now when it's pretty solid, he still looks at me like, after all that pennies in a can stuff, you want me to bark? What's wrong with you?...

Thor learns to love skate boards, Step 1 of 90

I bought a skateboard on impulse today. I happened to be passing by a skate shop, so I went in and bought the cheapest one they had.

It's currently residing, or should I say lurking, in the living room. Thor is not crazy about it, but he's willing to eat treats off of it, and he will even tolerate it being rolled back and forth a little.

Next stop: outside on the sidewalk! Stay tuned!

Okay, maybe Thor is not as fanatical about tooth brushing as I am, but I think we can say that he is officially trained to tolerate it.

He's even letting me do his gums!

Thor has been doing a much better job of keeping up with his New Year's Resolutions than I have ever been. I gave us a year for the tooth brush, and he is rocking it after just four months.

I'm floored. Stunned. Shocked. Awed. Wowed.

I think that's all the words I know to describe my feelings except THRILLED! Thor actually let me brush every single one of his teeth tonight. Even the front ones!

I don't know what made tonight different, but Thor went from allowing me to stick the brush in his mouth for three seconds or so to letting me lift his lip and get his back molars. I did his teeth very softly and slowly, and didn't really get his gums. But I felt...

Thor Squeaked a Toy!

I'm thrilled to post that Thor actually managed to bite one of his toys hard enough to make it squeak!

I am not sure if Thor has really strong bite inhibition or really weak jaws. I've suspected the latter, since he doesn't like to eat anything that needs serious chewing. Even very small treats like Yorkie Yummies are too much for him.

Other owners complain that their dogs can destroy toys after a few hours. All of Thor's toys are immaculate, except maybe for some dog...
