| ![]() Ok, one of the ladies that I work with..her parent's dog went in to get groomed at a groomer/vet service here in Grand Rapids. It was a guy with a curled tail sort of like the Maltese, but with long hair on it. They went in to pick him up and found that he had been cut during grooming and had to be rushed to the vet section. The groomers had hit a main blood line and had to have it stiched right away. They did not have to pay for the grooming or vet care. Both the vet and the groomers were not very nice and said it was no big deal and they didn't understand why they were so upset about it. Ok..so this week they had to take him back for the stiches to be removed. They removed his stiched and said everything looked good. They took him home and when he started wagging his tail blood started squirting everywhere!! They rushed him back to the vet where they said that it would not heal and the end of the tail was now dead. They had to REMOVE the tail and now he only has a stump!! He also got his shots updated at that time and can you believe they had to pay for them? Over $100!! They got the one grooming free, stiches and tail removal for free and that's it!! Can you believe that??!! They never even offered additional free grooming - not that you would ever want to go back, but still!!!!!

| ![]() They need to contact management, first local, then their chain hq. There needs to be some sort of agreed upon compensation. What if it was a show dog, well never mind, a show dog would never be at a pet store groomers. But still! The dog is not the same. The dog also had pain and aggravation to deal with. If a person were to go to court over this, there would be mental anguish, time spent at the vet's, etc. to deal with. I am not a fan of suing people -- but they need to take responsibility for a HUGE error and compensate the dog's owner. Then the owner can use the money to spoil the poor little tail-less pup!

| ![]() I 100% agree and also I would call a lawyer NOW! Take pictures and go see a different vet and find out everything you can this sounds like a big law suit for the damage they caused and it would be rightfully deserved for what they did to that poor little yorkie! |

| ![]() That's awful! It's stories like these that make me afraid to take Zoe to a groomer. I do it myself but she really could use a professional, I'm just too afraid! |

| ![]() My baby just recently had a problem at the groomers too! I brought her to get groomed and got a call two hours later telling me to pick her up at the animal hospital. When I got there, they told me the groomer had cut her ear and that there was a good chance that it would fall off. Luckily it didn't, but she has a huge cut in her ear that won't ever heal and that *still* has a possibility of falling off...the vet couldn't tell me for sure what would happen. I still don't know what to do about Petsmart (the groomers who cut her). Now I have been trying to learn all I can about grooming to do it myself, and I will NEVER EVER take her back there again. |

| ![]() god i am sorry to hear about the bad experiences ur furbabies went through. i am a groomer myself, and i feel the way u all were treated is terrible. my babies r my life and i wud hate it too if a groomer hurt them. but can i also say that we work with live animals and genuine accidents can happen.but with love, respect and a lot off patience and not forgetting experience!!! there shud not be accidents. every dog i groom is someones baby and has to be treated that way. if the dog hates it and plays up then we phone owner to come, instead off continuing cause that is wen dog get stressed and accidents can happen. if u r wanting to learn to groom ur own furbaby make sure u learn from a qualified groomer. it not just clipper work u use scissors s big as 8" quite dangerous in the wrong hands. sorry again about the way u been treated! i cant get over thatx ![]() |

My thoughts exactly. Then we would see if they still thought that was "not a big deal"!
