| ![]() I live in a building that only allows two dogs (and of course nobody needs to know about the cats, right?). But I have 4 dogs(and 2 cats). Although I only walk them two at a time, maybe sometimes three. And I figured since they are teeny tiny, noone will care anyways. I mean honestly, all four of them put together are not even the size of the head of one of the dogs that some people have here in the building. Even the management had seen them all together, and didn't really care. Until they called me the other day and told me that "some people" from the building have complained that I have "three" dogs, and I am only supposed to have two. Can't people just get a life and get their nose out of people's business? And it's not like they complained about my dogs being a nuisance or anything, just the "number" of the teeny dogs bothers them!!!! Whatever. Anyways, they said they have no choice but to send me a letter and ask me to rectify the situation, I should respond to that letter with another letter, they will present the letter to the boars, and the board ultimately needs to make a decision. Since they said I have "three", I have decided to send Sake (my 8 month old morkie puppy) to Montreal to stay with my parents for now, and in the mean time I deal with the remaining three, my argument being that Missy is a 14 yo rescue with failing kidneys, she has been given 6months to a yeart to live (it's sad, but true!), and maybe they let me be. And the reason I picked Sake out of the four is: 1- I have a better chance if I keep missy here as one of the three dogs. 2-Sake is a bit loud and I don't want them to find a "noise complaint" and use it against me. 3-My sister who lives with my parents (she's in college) absolutely adores Sake, and always favors him, and I know he will be even more spoiled when he's there. Anyways, it's not a fun situation right now, and my life has turned upside down. The help I need from you guys is any tips on how to ship sake to Montreal safe and sound: My boyfriend is flying to Montreal and taking Sake with him. I have flown with Sushi and Mr. Big many many times before. They just go in a bag under the seat, and they just stay there all the way, without a peep! They are pretty good, and totally used to flying. but Sake is different: he is hyper and loud, has never been in a bag/cage, or a flight, and I'm sure he will be barking and crying all the way. So I thought we should send him to the baggage, but he will still be upset and barking all the way. Is there any thing i can do to make the flight less traumatic for him? Maybe any meds? It's only a 1hr flight. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

| ![]() I agree about a sedative - talk to your vet and see what he/she suggests. |

| ![]() I see your in Toronto. I am in Windsor and I know there is a city bylaw that states two dogs per household. You may have a hard time convincing them but perhaps it may work. Personally I wouldn't put myself into a situation like that again and I definitely wouldn't be getting any more dogs because what will you do if they do not accept what you have to say and give you an eviction notice? Many rental places don't want dogs, especially more then one. I know even as far as Chatham is the 2 dogs per household so I think it may be all of Ontario? Unless you can apply for a kennel licence or something that allows more dogs. Sorry your neighbors are being jerks. I know someone who just had this problem and had to rehome two of four dogs. It is a sad situation! |

Hmm I think the condo by law may be stronger because it is a "condo" and they can have their own rules. Around here condos have NO PETS rules and they are strict. Since T.O has three dogs per household, I would think that your claim of your one girl being older may be effective then. If you explain the situation that she isn't going to be around much longer and you are just trying to make her last months comfortable. They may accept it on a temporary basis. | |

| ![]() When management saw you had three dogs, did you confess you "owned" them or are they assuming you do? If not, how can they proove that 3 live with you? Couldn't you just be "sitting" for the extra dog at the time your neighbor's saw you with them? I'm sure there is nothing in your contract or condo association "laws" that state you can't care for or have visiting dogs at any given time? ![]() Good luck with that, and i agree, with others, you can get a lite seditive or Benadryl for the flight...

| ![]() Good luck. I think the route you are going with using the failing health is a good way to proceed. Make sure you have a letter from your vet too so they know how serious you are. Most people have a soft spot for a sick pup...especially if it will be a 'temporary' situation. Good luck, and maybe start looking into alternative housing in the meantime. We moved from our apartment and bought a townhouse and our dog (now dogs) couldn't be happier!! And no condo or apartment rules to follow...woohoo! |

| ![]() This is so sad! Basically, it all boils down to dog owners who allow their dogs to destroy the home VIA eating on the wall corners, pee/poop on carpet, and damaging the property. Maybe you couldinvite the owner to your home and show the condition it is in and that your babies are well behaved. Explain you are having a difficult mental time dealing with the passing of one within 6 months and cannot bare to be away from the other during this time in your life and appeal to his human side. I would try this first and use your sister as your last option. JMHO

![]() I said to the manager: would you rather see me walk around the hallways with two huge bullmastifs than three tiny little squirts that all of them put together are not even the size of the head of one of those bigger dogs? She tried the "my hands are tied" game with me. Anyways, I am going to write the letter and see how it goes. Sake is going to Montreal this sunday, and I will be left with the other three dogs . Gonna miss Sake :'( Thank you all for your posts and your support. Means a lot to me. This last week has been really tough for me, knowing that I'm sending my baby away, and won't be able to see him for a while! I've been kissing him and holding him tight in my arms all day and night, but it's getting tougher and tougher as we get closer to Sunday :'(

| ![]() our city laws state no more than 2 dogs and 4 cats per household! that's really weird to me that they can regulate people's personal homes, this isn't even apartment living, it's just the whole city. but i have one and only want one for now, someday i'll move to the country and fill up my whole backyard with big dogs and keep little Sadie in the house with maybe one other dog. i want another Golden Retriever someday |

| ![]() I finally sent my little boy away last night. I am so so heartbroken. Last night was so incredibly hard to sleep without him stuck to my side and his head on my pillow. And today is going to be so incredibly difficult to go home without him jumping up and down for me. I know he's in good hands, he cuddled with my sister all last night. And this morning went for a nice walk with my mom. They have a nice backyard where he can run around and play with my parents' dogs (they have a yorkie mix and a shih tzu). I know it's silly to be sad. I can go see him whenever I want, he is only 6hr drive away. Then why am I so so sad???? It almost feels like I let him down. Or did I let myself down? They said he sat behind the door for the first couple of hours, hoping that I would go and get him, but then he gave up after that and went and slept in my sister's bed. It killed me when they told me that. We took some photos of him before he went away.....
