Yorkie Yakker | I found out about them when i joined this site. I work with him about 15 minutes a day even when we are not outside. The outside is really what scares me the most because I am always out there working in the yard. i was hoping that he would learn just by watching my bigger and older dogs as to what NOT to do, but it's not working. I don't want anything to happen to him. We live on a "cut through" street where no one cares about the 25 mile speed limit. so for me it has truly been a heaven sent

| Just found this thread. I just bought a clicker but never used one before. Jackson knows about 14 tricks from just me telling him "yes" and treating him but I think having a clicker may be useful. I'm gonna read the link posted!

| I think a clicker would be nice, but sadly Scruffs gets so scared of the noise he stops eating treats, even boiled chicken. It's a worth a shot, since they are like 50 cents at Petsmart.

Yorkie Yakker | oh no. I remember someone saying that you can purchase with different sounds because the louder ones scare their dogs. So far Yoda responds very well too it. I need to switch up treats though, that way he won't get used to the same ones and get bored with it you know

| I tried the soft clickers too (he was still scared). The trainer said try a snapple cap, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. For treats try boiled chicken. It really is the best treat out there.

| You can use the click of a pen. in your pocket and even inside of something to make it quite. You can also start with the word yes and once the dog know it the word that is loaded you can slowly match the yes with the clicker in you pocket muffled with tape. If that is still not working use light. aUse a falsh light a quick on and off and that can be your visual click. then once that is understood you can match the click with the flash and switch over. | Thank you! I ordered it online so it hasn't arrived yet but I'm looking forward to seeing if it will "click" (hehe) faster.

| He is better with the normal clicker. I ordered a soft clicker I think he just needed some getting used to. Before he was so scared of it he just cowered but now he will eat a treat. He is wary of going through the tire jump in agility since the trainer would use the clicker. Poor guy . I have a lot of dogs here for a holidays so once they leave I can focus on his training more. I need to boil some chicken that will definitely help.

| I just want to say how good the clicker is. He is no longer scared of it at all, and knows it means a treat. He is doing a lot better with tricks just after one session. I am so proud of him. I bought this one: Amazon.com: StarMark Clicker Dog Training System:... He was scared of the clickers from Petco (the regular, cheap kind). I am a little confused if I am supposed to always treat after the clicker? So far I am. I think you stop once the behavior is learned. Does anyone have any good sites or videos that explain it? I found a few by searching on here, but there's always more to learn!
