Hi! I'm new here, but I've been searching for another puppy for a very long time. I went back and forth between Maltese and Yorkies, and right now I'm looking for either, because who knew finding an honest reputable breeder would be so impossible?

I live in Los Angeles, yet the only breeders I found wouldn't even talk to me unless I had $3500-6000 in my pocket ready to fork over that day! I was completely blown away. I know yorkies and maltese are expensive dogs, but I'd like to pay around $1200 or under. I really think this is reasonable considering I'm only looking for a pet and don't plan on breeding.

I would really really love a female, on the smaller end, around 3.5 - 5 lbs.

I started my search on the internet and I thought I was being really careful, I asked plenty of questions, kept in contact, and then I had a Maltese breeder run away with my $500 deposit. She ignored me once she had my deposit and I never heard from her again

I found out plenty of dirty secrets about the next breeder I had talked to from another forum, she was a puppy broker and involved with puppy mills and was suspended from the AKC.
The next 2 breeders sent me fake photos I had found on another Yorkie website and lied to me about every thing I had ever asked and gave me fake referrals. I've been lied to, stolen from, ignored, given the run around, and this has been going on for 2 months now. I'm all ready to give up

So to make a long story short...do any reasonable, responsible, healthy, honest Yorkie breeders exist out there that could help me out with finding a female Yorkie???

OMG! That is horrible! I know a dealer up here in the Seattle area, but it'd definitely require a personal trip to come pick her up if you got one here. Her Yorkies run from $800 to $1000 last I checked and that's where I got my Yoda. I'm sure there are a few California members on here, and Yorkies should be from $800 to $1500, maybe $2000 for a show dog. Hopefully some CA members will chime in and help, $3500 to $600 is EXTREMELY overpriced!

Gwen ... you might check with vets in your area for a good breeder! Any good breeder has lots of contact with their vet! We were fortunate and actually found a vet that breeds and shows Yorkies so naturally she specializes in this breed. She didn't have any babies at that time and she referred us to a breeder friend of hers who also raises show dogs and that's where we found our baby Toto! She is absolutely the biggest "Yorkie lover" I have ever heard of ... it doesn't matter if they are going to be evaluated "show quality" or not, I thought we would have to "arm wrestle" her for Toto even after we bought her!!

She just loves all her babies ... and although I didn't quite understand it at the time ... I really appreciate her for that. She had to get to know us before considering us for one of her babies ... honestly, I don't know if it could have been any worse if we had been trying to adopt a human child!!

Gwen, I know a exceptional honest breeder in OK. She does ship Yorkies and is USDA certified. Her name is Pam and her website is lazymkennel.com

She will answer all your questions and I promise to be honest with you in what you are looking for.

I wish you luck in your search for your Yorkie love and I see how important it is to you. So sorry for your bad luck so far. Keep the faith!

I definitely understand where your coming from! I searched forever to find a trusted breeder to buy my Yorkie from. I am responding because I may be able to help if your still looking for one! I am expecting puppies sometime this week. They will be AKC registered and vet checked. My little female is only 4 lbs. and my male is 5 lbs. They are both very sweet and are of great quality. My vet loves them! We are expecting 3 puppies, not sure of the sexs yet. My price is $1500. I have searched and searched online, and for a puppy who only will weigh 4-5 lbs, well, they are way, way overpriced! I paid $1500 for both of mine. Let me know if your interested. I have pics of both parents online.

Hi Gwen, This post is old and I sure hope you have found your little angel by now. But if you haven't,,, like Jinxson, I do recommend Yorkiepals. I got my Gus from them last year and I couldn't be more happy with my experience. I too did a quite a bit of searching and did find a few breeders by calling local vets. But they wanted way too much for their puppies. When I met Kathy I knew I would be getting a happy and healthy puppy. They trully love their yorkies and it really show. I still keep in touch. And they encourage to call anytime you have questions or concerns. I knew if I took my time I would find the perfact breeder. My Gus is 2.5 lbs of pure joy. And it's all thanks to Yorkie Pals!!!

WOW I am so shocked by all of this! We have a website and are planning on selling some of our puppies here on the internet. I have been very worried over people scamming us and have never even thought that the buyers are just as likely worried that we are going to scam them. It's just so sad that some people have to ruin it for the rest of us!!!! I'm so happy you posted this so I now see both sides to this!
