| Mathematical Formula of a Yorkie?? This may be a very silly question but I am curious... When we talk about the "perfect" or "ideal" yorkie and regarding the standards is it possible there is actually a mathematical formula that you lt you know if you dog structure wise is perfect?? Does that make sense? I saw on television that there is a formula for beauty with humans...but what about our yorkies? I thought of this after reading about the square bodies and measuring them....what about the rest of the body, equations and formulas? I formula that could let you know how close your dog is to perfection???

| I'm not too sure about this as I am not a breeder or a shower. But I'm gonna bump this up for you in case someone else out there knows. |

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | I'm no expert, but a question: Isn't that sort of what 'conformance' is all about in dog shows? It puts a number on how close the dog measures to the breed standard. I would think you'd run into a problem with a meaningful formula when it came to temperment.

| I 100% agree on temperment and coat but I am talking about structure.

| It is not a silly question. However there is no perfect yorkie. I have an "ideal" yorkie in my head that is the blue print for what I strive for according to the standard and that of many ethical, devoted breeders who helped set this standard long ago. I would love to know this "formula" because it would be nice to say 2 x Y = perfecto! That just isn't the case in this day and age. Too much has happened to the breed with so many people breeding less than standard to same. I've learned alot in my time. I am not and have never claimed to be perfect but I have surely done my homework and have a clear understanding of my own mistakes and can spot them with others as well. It takes years and years to aquire this "formula" but as long as you have a good blue print in your head, strive for it, that is the key. |

| In some way I think it would make more sense when talking about the conformation of the structure. I would rather know that my yorkie is such and such measurment away from perfection (a score on a scale?). How can I make this clear?? Umm..dog shows are judged by the OPINION of a judge and HIS INTERPRETATION of the standard. If there was an actual formula (regarding structure) that gave a number to how well a dog correlated to the standard then it is would be less of a judges opinion and more accurate. More technical and less subjective (regarding structure). Opinion would play a part in judging of temperment, movement and coat...

they, neither one, qualify as a "standard" yorkie but they are so perfect to me! but definitely, as long as they are healthy and happy, that is all I want to. d

| Ears When the OP brought this up, I thought hmmm I don't think she will get an answer to that one. Its just too hard. But then, I have always wondered about the description of ears that says small. What is small? Some ears seem longer than the head. Is there any way of knowing what size your dog's ears should be in relation to their head, height, or anything else? |
