| Update on Mindy I wasn't sure where to post this but I figure since she is a rescue this would be a good place to post. Some of you remember our rescue Mindy but those who don't you can read my post here: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...y-age-2-a.html Anyhow I have been trying some new things with her on my own without a trainer. She is doing much better, but all issues still exist unfortunately..where is the magic pill? LOL Unfortunately she bit at the back of the leg of one of my husbands friends who she has never seen as he walked through our back yard. She obviously didn't hurt him because he said "aww she is protecting her babies (LOL he was holding little Gracie)", and he didn't even stop and look at his leg. I was just bummed over the fact she did that. Had I known there was anyone here I would of brought her in the house. Or better yet put her on a leash and let her greet him face to face (so to speak) in a non threatening way. Barking is getting a little better now that I squirt her with water and say quiet. She is content here there is no doubt about that. It's like, this is where she wants to be and that is the end of it .. So of course she gets her wish.. I guess she is better off here anyhow with people who know her and understand her and know how to deal with her issues (mostly). Anyhow, she mostly just lays around doing nothing..ahhh the life |

| I read the thread on Mindy and bless you for taking her in. It sounds like you are the owner Mindy has been looking for. Good luck.

| Cannot do it any more!! Mindy has become worse and I just cannot keep her here any more. I have 2 litters of pups right now and she is now attacking them. I have to keep her away from them which is almost impossible. I put them in the ex-pen to play today and for me it was the last straw with her. She grabbed one through the wire and pulled the pup very hard by the hair growling. When I clean their area or feed them she tries to get in. She sits outside of their play/living area in the kitchen and whines and again tries to get them through the wire (I use ex-pens). I cannot keep her away. When I picked them up today to take them out to the deck she grabbed at the 3 I had in my arms and tried to rip it from my hand by biting at the pups. She does NOT want to play with them, she wants to hurt them! She is starting serious fights with ALL of my other dogs in the house and they have had enough too. When I let them out of their crates in the morning she starts barking like mad and attacks them. There is mainly 3 she goes after, especially Rose one of my cockapoos and Rose is the most laid back easy going dogs, but Rose will not put up with it and will defend herself. Mindy has also been growling at ME lately when I move her. Like if she is laying by my feet while I am on the computer and I love my feet to get up she growls like she is gonna snap. So far hasn't but who knows, it's a matter of time with her. I believe she is a ticking time bomb! The vet cannot find anything physically wrong with her other than a LP on her back right knee, but it does not hurt her. And she had bitten 2 more male friends. When I know someone is coming over I put her in my room and she barks like mad the whole time. No rescue wants her, who can blame them. I just do not know what to do. My husband refuses to allow me to spend the money on a trainer or behaviorist, and I have to agree with him. I am taking her to my vet on Thursday to discuss this further with him. I already know what he is going to say since he mentioned it last time we were in...sigh... |

| For those that have been following this story I would like to give everyone closure. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/tra...-any-more.html This is extremely heartbreaking for me since I really tried to help. Two rescues were contacted and both agreed to take Mindy and offer her training and rehabilitation. PUP decided after speaking with Karla there was more to the story and they were not willing to continue working with her on a surrender of Mindy. I was never able to offer my backup rescue since she was not willing to pay to have Mindy shipped. YorkieMother also became involved yesterday and offered to help as well. At 12:36 A.M. I received this email from Karla. Quote:
I am hoping that Mindy's life will be a lesson to be learn from. NEVER try to do rescue as an individual unless you are willing to make a lifelong commitment to that animal.

| I am so heartbroken over this. I have no words for this.... Oh wait, I DO! This is just INSANE! When you take in a foster, you take the good with the bad, if you can't handle it, find someone better suited to do it! It's that simple. Bend over backwards if you have to. She's a "breeder," of all people, she should understand that these pups don't ask to be brought into this world and it's the human's responsibility to care for them. Mindy was failed by her owner, I get that. He was no good to her and turned her into a problem child. Issues like hers don't change in a matter of months, especially if you don't know how to handle it. I understand Mommmadog1 has to put her own dogs, and litter of puppies first, they are her responsibility to keep safe. I still think that house was to much for Mindy. She had aggression issues, and I'm glad she was at least ok with two males in the household, it was a sign of hope! She could have been rehabilitated in the right hands.
