For those that have been following this story I would like to give everyone closure.

This is extremely heartbreaking for me since I really tried to help. Two rescues were contacted and both agreed to take Mindy and offer her training and rehabilitation. PUP decided after speaking with Karla there was more to the story and they were not willing to continue working with her on a surrender of Mindy. I was never able to offer my backup rescue since she was not willing to pay to have Mindy shipped. YorkieMother also became involved yesterday and offered to help as well. At 12:36 A.M. I received this email from Karla.

I thought that you should see exactly what I wrote to her.. Blame me all you want for everything. I am done! You may NOT share this email on yorkie talk or with anyone else.

Mindy will be put to sleep and that is just the end of it!

Below is the correspondence between Mommadog1 and PUP:

I was wondering if she will be meeting me somewhere and about where she is coming from? I don't live in Tacoma but I live near Puyallup and can meet her down that way if easier.

I have never had to do anything like this in my life, I have always fostered, rescued and re-homed dogs but never gave one up to a rescue. I really need to know this is going to remain confidential and that I wont be turned into the animal control for giving her up to a rescue.

Right now I am already dealing with this biting issue and a possible lawsuit for her breaking skin on someone. They have already threatened to turn us into the AC for having a vicious dog.

Mindy is not my dog, she is a rescue we took in to re-home for my husbands co-worker. We had no idea of her issues when we took her in on Dec 6th, 09. I had worked with her for 4 months and she was doing good, I re-homed her but she was returned 9 days later because their other dog was terrified of her, and Mindy was trying to eat their cat.

So I looked for another home with a single woman, no other dogs or cats or kids, and found what I thought to be the perfect home. She was there almost 2 weeks and again returned for biting an older man, and another man on her potty walk. She HATES men, but she is fine with my son and husband since she is used to them. But she still barks at them like mad when they come home and also for some reason when my son comes out of his room and she is in here with me while I am on the computer. My son is 21.

She will immediately attach herself to women. It is also important to me to know about the foster home she is going to and if she will receive training for these issues by a trainer. I know you are the professional here but I just cannot put her into another situation where she will hurt anyone or any other animals. She is a very sweet dog otherwise. I just cannot afford the 4-500.00 bucks for a trainer. I have never taken in a dog I couldn't train, until Mindy came along.

Thanks for your time and help,
Karla
I am heartbroken that Mindy was failed by her owners. Mommadog1 took on much more then she could handle as a self proclaimed "rescuer". If there is one lesson learned in all of this tragedy is that rescuing dogs should be left to an organization that has the capabilities to deal with issues that they are faced with~no matter what the outcome. Mindy did have some serious issues that I am sure her former owner failed to deal with and that Mommadog1 was not told about when she took Mindy into her care. But that is not an excuse for euthanasia! When LEGITIMATE REPUTABLE RESCUE takes an owner surrender they deal with the issues regardless of cost. If every rescue PTS dogs that cost over $100 in vet bills there would be no dogs in rescues. Mindy was failed by the humans in her life that should have protected her and loved her unconditionally.

I am hoping that Mindy's life will be a lesson to be learn from. NEVER try to do rescue as an individual unless you are willing to make a lifelong commitment to that animal.
