| Buddy Belt Harness While I was at the dog show last week-end, I bought two of the Buddy Belt Harness'es. My daughter also bought two. I haven't used mine yet, but my daughter took one of her Dachshunds walking and the harness literally rubbed the poor dog raw, to the point of bleeding. She used the liners that you can buy, I don't know if she put them on for the first walk or not. Do you think she had the harness too tight? Has this happened to anyone else? I've heard and read good things about the Buddy Belt but now I'm afraid to use mine.

| Ouch, poor doggy! Max has been using a BB since he was a pup, over 2 years. Teddy has been using a BB for over a year. Neither has had a problem. Some dogs are more sensitive. Could be an improper fit as you suggested.

| Awwww poor doggie thats gotta hurt. Callie has had one for two years and she pulls sometimes like crazy and has never had a rash or redness or anything my moms yorkie also uses one and he has had his almost a year and no rash or redness or anything. When we took a trip to WV pretty much the hole trip except at night Callie and Sammy had them on all the time so they were easy to leash up and take out neither one had any problems. I'm so sorry that happened maybe make sure the fit is right not too lose but not to tight either.

| Poor baby Both my boys use Buddy Belts and we have never had a rubbing issue. I don't keep them very tight but I would say they fit snug. I wonder if it's just too tight or perhaps the shape of the Dachshund doesn't agree with the Buddy Belt. Those dogs are very difficult to fit.

| I had a Buddy Belt for a day and returned it but it was due to sizing issues. It seemed very soft and I couldn't have imagined it rubbing Jackson that raw. I believe the dog "Buddy" was a Dachshund and the BB was made for him, LOL!

| I have Buddy Belts for Jada and Bogie and they have never had a problem with rubbing or any redness. I bet it is a fit issue.

| I've never had a problem with the BB rubbing them raw, but now that I'm letting Murphy's hair grow out it's causing bad matting on his shoulders. I wonder if the liner would help?

| I guess I will give mine a try. When DH saw the liners the first thing he said was "this harness is going to cause problems". I can't take them back, I might as well give them a try. Buster and Maggie have short hair and even shorter for the summer but both need groomed and their next appt. is a week away. Maybe I will wait until they get groomed.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I'm wondering if different colors of buddy belt have different types of leathers. I only have the black one, and it's butter soft, the inside is suede, not rough edges. I was wondering if dying the leather could make some of the stiff and more prone to this sort of thing. Obviously fit is important, but we've never had a bit of problem with this. I guess if in doubt you could wear clothing under it.

| I have the dark metallic purple for Uni, and I bought it used, so already broken in. Uni has very thin hair so it was making her armpits red, but not to the point of bleeding. I sewed in faux sheepskin instead of buying the official liners. It's helped a lot. I do sometimes walk her with a shirt on, just so it fits her better. She has a size 3 and it's on the smallest hole, with a shirt on, it fits on the middle hole like it should.

Still, I think fit is the most important factor.

| I want to get the Buddy Belt next for my two. I have heard good and bad things about it... I'm guessing if it's rubbing her dog raw, she has it either too loose so it moves around or too tight so that it is rubbing.
