| BAll Crazy!!! My Keisha is driving us nuts with her small tennis ball, when I'm outside she is forever dropping her ball in front of you to throw, until I go and hide it which she always finds I think she thinks it's part of the game! I'm thinking of getting a machine she can drop ball in and leave us alone. Will this ever stop, she does it in the house now too, its starting to get on my nerves a bit as she barks at you until you throw the ball, I think it's turning into an obsession. Help!!!! | YES - it IS an obsession and NO it will never stop LOL!! Our sweet Gypsy Rose doesn't have a small tennis ball either (thank your lucky stars!) .. she likes a football size.. we buy loads of them - need to buy in bulk..! She knows they keep in a cupboard under the stairs .. we get a ball out but after a while she goes back to the cupboard after she loses interest in the original one, we have a few so we have a "turnover" .... !! We moaned that our previous dogs had no interest in playing ball.. LOL !! Ana xx |

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | Magic is very much ball obsessed!!! She loves balls that jiggle and make noise, she will play with them for hours...and if she somehow gets it stuck under something, she will let you know by barking until someone helps her out...balls are about the only toy she will play with anymore...we buy new ones all the time, because she thinks it is fun to hide them where no one can find them...at night we have to put the ball up just to get her to go to bed!!! Sailor on the other hand wants nothing to do with balls...boy are they different!!!

| I have a blue heeler (Austrailian Cattle Dog) that we play frisbie and ball with. Our heeler is very good at catching too. Maggie has been watching Pepper very close. Now, all of a sudden, Maggie wants to retrieve too. We had told ourselves that we would not train another dog to play fetch. Well, I guess I will have to blame my heeler for this one. We now play fetch in the den with Maggie for one hour before bedtime. Conks her out for the night. Other than that, she doesn't try to get our attention with her toys. Come nighttime, you had better be ready. She does not forget, that she only has an hour before Nite Nite.

| Crazy is right! We thought that Higgins favorite thing was his soft frisbee. Until, on a whim, I bought him a soccer size light plastic ball. Talk about obsessed! He has taught himself some pretty good control of the ball, even though it is much bigger than he is, and is now teaching us to play soccer with him. Everything is played at super speed with Higgins and the ball flying over the field. He looks like a seal sometimes, batting the ball in the air with his nose. The only caution is that we have to be very careful we are not near where cars are operating, because both the ball and Higgy are so FAST disaster could strike. Other than that, Higgy Soccer wears that little energizer bunny out so he collapses into a nice nap and we have some peace for a couple of hours. |

| archie has 33 balls. yes, 33---atleast those which I currently can find. there are others which I cannot find because he has successfully hid them. archie finds balls in the park, even if they're far away. he hunts them. it's the terrier in him. two weeks ago, he found 8 balls in 7 days. i was walking outside of the park and he kept pulling me through the fence. well, he got into the fence and I had to let go of the leash and walk around to get inside the park. by the time, he was at a bush, clawing away. lo and behold! a ball fell out of there. I have no clue how he managed to smell it from the outside of the park. i don't think it's necessarily a bad thing because i can use it to train him to find things. |

Take up flyball! It will wear her out and fill her need for playing with tennis balls! She just an active dog who needs a job. I had one who used to escape from the house so she could hunt out neighborhood kids who were dribbling baskeballs. She would play with these balls until she sores on her lip! We used to have to hide the balls in the garage on the highest shelf! It's just a Yorkie- high prey drive thing. Seriously, you should look into doing dog sports or some activity with your Yorkie. She is being true to her terrier roots! | |
