| Food Dilema I feed Starsky and Shylah both Nutro small bites, lamb and rice also a small amount of the Nutro moist food in the can. My problem is they will eat all their food, both dry and moist if I open an new can and it is at room temperature. But after I have refrigerated the unused portion, they don't like it. I microwaved the moist food from the refrigerator today and they ate it right up. So my question is, if you go through a can in a weeks time, do you really have to refrigerate it? It is a pain to microwave it and you dirty up another dish.

| I would definately refrigerate it after opening. I would not leave out a can of moist food that has already been opened. It will harvest bacteria that will really upset your little ones' tummies. That would be NO fun and more of a pain than warming it up everyday. |

I would keep it refrigerated, or put it in the dish and they'll eat it when it warms up. I feed mine their soft food on a plain old saucers, so it would not be a problem to microwave it. It would be about a 10 second zap. | |

| Definitely refrigerate it.........and please take it OUT of the can. I feed canned strictly as a treat to mix their powder supplements. I keep the unused portion in a tupperware. If dirtying a dish is too much for you...........consider styrofoam plates? Good luck!

Probably not a problem if only using it to warm dog food for 7-8 seconds but we just keep a standard policy in the house -- no styrofoam in the microwave -- ever. (Newer microwaves even have that in their safety instructions -- mine did.) To echo the answers to the OP -- definately refrigerate after opening!

| I think I am just going to get them some new dishes. I have metal bowls right now for them and I may look for ceramic or plastic, then I can just microwave it all for like 10 secs. Thanks for all your advice. One question, why do you take it all out of the can? I use plastic lids to cover the cans and put them in the refridgerator. Is this wrong?
