Yes, each person must do what makes them comfortable and what I am going to say here is that after seeing dogs die during recalls in the past, I decided to go with the companies who had the least or no recalls. That is why I harp on quality control so much.....I saw pets die during the recalls years back because of a focus on ingredients and not quality control. So....yes, it does come down to comfort level. I am comfortable with my choices and will always tout them...just like others will do the same. I have NOT bashed any food here in this thread, but responded because I felt you did bash Royal Canin. I disagree completely with your thoughts on it and when I post I do so not just with one person in mind, but with the many who will read it in the future.

There is no reason to leave just because we don't agree with you. There are a LOT of people on this forum who have been members for a very long time and I can tell you that we do not all agree on dog food. It has always been a controversial topic. There is a lot to be learned here and shared here....hopefully you will stop and think instead of just walking away because someone disagrees with you.

Sometimes things go a bit off course...it is all about learning and sharing. The original asked about two foods....Royal Canin and Wellness....and if you look at your comment, it veered off to Blue Buffalo a food that I don't believe was mentioned in that post. I didn't say you were claiming to be an expert. Yes, it is about giving opinions...you are giving yours and I am giving mine. It is how we learn.

Food is a very controversial topic here. I learned a lot about it in my vet assistant classes and have used that to help mold my opinions. I have a dog with IBD and before she was diagnosed with it I tried every type and brand of dog food and it never helped. She was put on a prescription food and that fixed the issues. Something that is important to think about with the limited ingredient and grain free food is they are all made in the plant together so they all come in contact with each other meaning there are still probably some grains in the grain free food and some of the ingredients your trying to avoid in limited ingredient foods and for most dogs that are healthy with no issues that's fine. But for other dogs it might not be. When we bash certain ingredients people get it in their head that those are terrible so if their dog gets sick the first thing they look at on the prescription food is ingredients and then refuse to feed the food and their dog suffers sometimes extremely . I am not trying to bash your food of choice but help you see some of their issues. We have had several people on here buy blue buffalo and their bag seemed to have more life source bits and their dogs got very sick so when they called the company they said that happens all the time and that means it's a quality control issue. We had another member who worked for them and said straight out they care more about their advertising then the food. With their lawsuit like most company's they paid it off and continue to do the same thing and not change anything because it's easier. Something that's important is a lot of these companies don't do feeding trails to make sure that their food does what it's supposed to and a lot of them don't staff vets. Royal Canin does so that makes me feel very safe with them.

I'm not leaving the site, still very much on it. Just reading instead of commenting. I'm not going to waste my time on the politics, so to speak. Never bashed any brand, simply stated an opinion as originally asked and mentioned what I fed my dog. Not endorsed it. Simply brought it in passing. In fact, all I said about Royal Canin was that from my readings and how I feel for my pets, meat by-product is something I'm not enthused about, not the entire brand, just a particular ingredient. There are some other great things in that food, but ultimately it wasn't my choice. Someone in particular whom you know who you are, started bad talking which was completely unnecessary. I'm sorry if my comments where misinterpreted, but I've been saying from the beginning to feed to what feels comfortable with you and your pup.

Happy to hear you have changed your mind. I went back and re read the posts and fail to see where you were "bad mouthed". I don't know who you refer to in your above post, but it could be one of a few people...if it was me, contrary to what you are saying, I don't know it. I doubt the person you have this feeling about does either.

None of my statements have to do with politics and let me tell you this...I have been here long enough to know that "politics" do not exist here on YT when it come down to breaking the rules. Most of us have had our share of supspensions! If you feel rules are broken (bad mouthing is breaking a rule), then you should report it. Of course in saying that I don't see anything reportable in this thread.

Bottom line, I don't think anyone here has any kind of ill will towards you. People disagreeing with your opinion...that was all it was! The OP asked about two foods and yes, you gave your opinion...which also led to you bringing another food into the discussion. Others gave their opinions...that is ALL this was.

Hopefully you can take a step back and take a breath and then realize none of this was personal. As I said, it is a controversial topic.

True that.... I lost my vet nutritionist to Royal Canin. I was sad because she was really knowledgable.

Im done spending hours looking at dog foods. They did not like the taste of fromm. So im back giving them the royal can in mini for sensitive stomach. I reading where royal canin has nutritional education behind their foods. My dogs really like the taste. Gobbled up a few kibbles. So we will see what happens next. You are so right about dogs reacting different to foods. Just have to see what works. Mine still eat science diet wet id. That seems to work.
