| I would refrain from having your puppy walk on grass that is accessible to other dogs until all the shots are completed. If it's in your back yard and you are certain no other strange dogs have been in the yard, then back yard is ok. Just make sure warm clothes and dry them off when you come back in.

| I wouldn't. Your baby probably gets a lot of exercise in the house doing regular puppy things. You wouldn't want here to get a cold. IMHO.

| Yeah, I'd only have my pup out long enough to use the bathroom and then head right back inside. It's been cold and rainy here the past couple days and I can only imagine how my pups feel having to go outside if I feel miserable out there for even just a minute. They seem to enjoy napping during icky, rainy weather anyway and we can always just play inside too. |

| Do you mean like a walk-walk or a potty walk? I hate to walk in rain, so we don't do it, but he is potty trained outdoors so we will go out in the rain for short increments. He doesn't seem terribly bothered, but he doesn't like it either. We don't do jackets for quick trips. But yeah, he will be fine.

| I would not do it for a few reasons one your pup has not had all of his shots so he could get something that could make him really sick and or kill him the second thing is he could get really sick getting cold and wet.

| Cold rain??? I personally wouldn't be doing such a thing, but I guess if YOU can tolerate walking in the cold rain, WITHOUT a jacket or raincoat, just a T-shirt and jeans and barefooted, guess your pitiful, miserable, soaking wet, shivering cold little pup would survive...... maybe. I am just wondering WHY???? Do you have a garage or other covered area the baby could use? |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | You really should refrain from walking your dog until at least 2-3 weeks after the final set of puppy shots. He needs time to build up his immunity.

| I really feel like some are being a bit over-dramatic?? Your pup is not going to die from a tiny walk in the rain. But I guess it depends on your definition of 'walk'... I mean if you're talking full fledge like 1 mile walk, then no, but to go out and potty and do business? Sure. Here was Jackson, at probably no more than 4 months... having a blast in freezing snow (he was not shivering, nor unhappy).... it's not like I left him out there all day, to freeze, or forced him to be out there, but when you are properly potty training a dog, you do what ya gotta do. I did not want my dog to learn to go anywhere inside (though I admit for my own sake in certain weather, it'd be nice if he would go on the porch or something ) but he's always refused pads and the like anyway... even when I would try to get him to go anywhere considered 'inside' (like a garage) he wouldn't do it. I brought Jackson home at 9 weeks old and immediately he was allowed in our own yard. Granted, we live in the 'country', and not in neighborhood where lots of other dogs have roamed, but he had 1 or 2 sets of vaccines, vet was totally fine with it, I had to start outdoor potty training, and I would've went bonkers if I had left him in the house 3 weeks after last set of shots. He had already explored so much at that point... grass, mud, rain, snow, etc. Just be smart and don't do dog parks, pet stores, and always keep them off the ground in the vets. I am always flabbergasted to find out people actually leave their dogs indoors for this long, you miss such a window of socialization opportunity. I use a jacket in certain situations, moreso for my own sake, lol. Jax only gets cold occasionally. I think it all depends on the dog. My dads JRT mix (who has more fur, and you would think would be hardier) gets VERY cold very easily. My friends yorkies, one is always cold, the other is always fine (both under 6lbs). So just be the judge of your own dog... know their limits, be smart about it, and have common sense.

| Winston was being trained to go potty outdoors at 8 weeks, yes I know too early to be away from his mom, and yes it rains in Illinois. Never hurt him, he was a fast learner, if the weather isn't so nice we go out he does his business and we go in. Your little one will be fine if that's what you're planning on doing. Not sure that I would want to take a long walk in the cold rain, so I would never take him. That doesn't even make sense.

| cold, rain? yes. 3 months old? not me. Perspective. I live in Oregon. If I didn't walk Pluto in the cold rain sometimes we might never get to go on walks? Does he mind it? No. Do I put a jacket or a hoodie on him? Yes. Yorkies are pretty durable dogs. He doesn't care what the weather is like. I walk my poor little dog who gets wet feet and cold in the rain and he loves it. We walk in the rain because well... we're Oregonians. [insert cheesy grin here] I think it's about common sense - is your dog shivering? Are you walking briskly enough to keep you both warm? In regard to the OP - my gut instinct I he's too young yet and you should wait until he's fully immunized. But have fun walking when he's ready - it's good for them and a joy!

| I had a sad experience with a 4 month old. I took her on our private lawn, no dogs, no cats etc. and she got a great big tick. The vet said the pigeons have them so I guess some birds carry them. Not safe outside when they are so small especially in this weather. |
