| My yorkie puppy will not eat! I have a 4 month puppy that I purchased a month ago and have already had 3 episodes of hypoglycemia. I already recognize when she is about to have one and was able to prevent one again but is really very hard. She is only 1.6 ounces and she is a very picky eater. She goes into self fasting, she will not eat dry food at all which I gave up since she needs to put some weight on and the Dr. Said to just feed her whatever she is willing to eat. I have been mixing baby food, chicken with chicken gravy and wellness puppy food. The Dr. Has also given me some "recovery food" which I also mix in and yesterday I had to feed her with a syringe. I had a Yorkie for 15 years and this never happened. I read that she has "Juvenile hypoglycemia" and that is common up to 4 months. Anyone has any ideas or help regarding this issue? What else can I do? Thanks, I am desperate! |

| My Puppy doesn't eat much! Thanks, I have tried different types and brands of premium foods. I just ordered some samples. Because she is so tiny, (1.8 lbs this week) the Dr. recommends to have her eat the baby food and the Diet food they gave me but want her to not only gain weight but to transition to dry food with healthy premium food. Maybe I am asking too much? |

| I would also add trying vanilla pudding and to keep Nutircal or similar readily available. Hopefully she will grow out of it.

| Definitely buy some nutrical, whenever my dog wouldn't eat and would get shaky and sick I would give her a little and she would perk up and be playing and running around. I would give your dog a little every time she wouldn't eat until you find a food she will eat consistently. Some yorkies do well if you add Parmesan to their food. Just remember that yokies have less olfactory neurons in their brain and therefore will not smell as well as other dogs, therefore making them more picky so just encourage your dog to try new foods. Canine caviar also makes a beaver food topper that is used in shelters because of how well most animals eat it and because it is great for weigh gain. Good luck!!!

| If you opt for the Dr.Millers Ntra Drops, you wont need the NutraCal, as the Dr.Millers has the glucose needed in it too....I personally like the Dr.Millers because the dogs love it and the substance is very easy to administer, and it is not as sticky and messy as the NutraCal. |

| Has your vet done any blood work on her? Hypoglycemia is very common in puppies that have liver shunts. It would be wise to get her checked for that just as a precaution. I pray she starts doing better. What dry food were you using? I highly recommend you take her dry kibble and grind it up in a blender so it is like a corn meal and just leave a bowl out for her at all times. All my young pups like to eat their dry food that way.

| Would she lick, anything from your fingers, after you have eaten some yourself, like boneless chicken, or eat outside the bowl? Some puppies won't eat from the bowl.

| My Yorkie puppy doesn't eat well Thanks for all the good advice and suggestions. She eats from the bowl, we have a cat bowl that is very flat because she was afraid of the deep bowl. I started sprinkling parmesan cheese and she likes that. She still doesn't eat all the food though. I serve her like 3 teaspoons and some boiled chicken cut up in small pieces, she likes that too. I hope that she grows out of this because every day is a big deal watching her look at the food and ignore it. She is not excited about eating. I went from 3 meals a day to 4 to prevent her from having any more hypoglycemic episodes. She is now 4 months and would like to bring her down to 3 meals a day but I am afraid. In August, we go back to work and can't imagine leaving her alone if she doesn't eat well in the morning. |

| Definitely nutrical.... In addition to what you have been doing. The nutrical will help your dog with the low sugar and help with increasing the appetite.
