She goes into self fasting, she will not eat dry food at all which I gave up since she needs to put some weight on and the Dr. Said to just feed her whatever she is willing to eat. I have been mixing baby food, chicken with chicken gravy and wellness puppy food. The Dr. Has also given me some "recovery food" which I also mix in and yesterday I had to feed her with a syringe. I had a Yorkie for 15 years and this never happened. I read that she has "Juvenile hypoglycemia" and that is common up to 4 months.
Anyone has any ideas or help regarding this issue? What else can I do?
Thanks, I am desperate! |
Bless your heart...these tiny buggers are indeed a handful if issues! I go with the doc 100%....feed her ANYTHING she will eat. That includes baby food! Puree the boiled chicken....for the tiny babies, the activity of chewing wears them out....puree the boiled chicken, or at least get it to a consistancy where she does not have to hardly chew it up. I like chicken baby food.....they dont have to do anything but lick it up, and if baby wont do that, you can put that in a syringe and squirt a tiny bit into her mouth, a "dot" at a time, until she gets at least 20cc's at least every 4 hours, around the clock. You can also try Royal Canin mousse for puppies....it is a whipped consistancy and easy to ingest....and if she wont eat it, you can load it into a 10cc syringe and squirt it into her mouth easily. I would always keep Royal Canin puppy kibble (starter) in a bowl for her...you can "course grind" it up...you want it the consistancy of course black ground pepper....not a powder...they can choke on it if it is a powder......I would encourage you to order Dr.Miller's Pet Nutra Drops....it is REALLY great for them, they love it and will readidly take it from a syringe....you can give it to her 2cc 4 times a day, the last dose right before bedtime....I used to load a syringe and leave it on my bathroom counter, and when I got up during the night to go pee, it was right there to give to my little Bumper, who had hypoglycemia issues his entire life.....he loved it and looked forward to getting it. (There are many "pet nutra drops" on the market....Dr.Millers is the one I recommend, because they love that stuff!....When I whel my newborns, after I get them out of the sack, and suck their noses and mouths out, they all get .02cc of Dr Millers in their mouths....it provides the glucose they need and stimulates them to suckle!)
