| Won't eat from bowl Hey guys! As you know we have adopted a 6 yr old male yorkie two weeks ago. So far he will only eat his food from the floor He will not eat from the dog bowl, he'll go take one or two little bites from it and that's it, he will not eat. I don't know how to get him to eat from the bowl, any suggestions???

| Do you think they fed him on the floor? Maybe that is what he is used to. I don't really have any suggestions at all on how to get him to eat from the bowl. I am just thinking that maybe he is used to the floor.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Have you tried the small paper plates? The shelter I help out at feed all the cats and dogs on paper plates. Maybe start with those and then try a bowl again. Does the bowl make a noise that is bothering him?

| Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try that. No, it sits on a mat that I have for the food bowl, it doesn't make any noise.

| Noah won't eat out of the bowl either, but his is just stubbornness and spoiled. Is it a stainless steel bowl where he can see his reflection? I read that some dogs don't like seeing themselves in the bowl. We tried smaller bowls that weren't as deep and he will eat most of what I put in it. I can tell when he's not feeling good though because he wants to be spoon fed (he was recently in the hospital and that's how I fed him).

| Sometimes if it's a smaller dog and the bowl's kinda deep, they don't like eating out of it because when they stick their nose in the bowl their vision is blocked. They can't see if anyone's trying to sneak up on them to take their food. Try a shallower bowl or a plate. |

YT Addict | Coco is kind of afraid of her bowl and she's not even a Yorkie! We found that some the problem is when she goes to put her head in, the tags on her collar hit the side and she gets scared. So if he has tags or anything I would reccomend taking them off. Also, maybe try feeding him on a plate, sometimes they don't like their head to far to where they can't see. Good luck |

| Buster will take a piece at a time and go to another part of the kitchen and eat. Sometimes he will throw it and play with it before he eats it. It just depends on his mood. But he's spoiled.

| My Yorkie will eat and eat and eat, no matter the source...hand, bowl, plate, floor, etc. he is only 3 1/2 months. My Yorkie Poo who is 5 months doesn't seem to like the bowl. If I try to feed him alone he wont eat. He will only eat if I hand feed him or if him and Twix eat at the same time, sort of like a competitive thing. However, Twix will jump over his head, slide under him, or do whatever to get to the food. He is tall and skinny so I want to get some healthy meat on those bones! |

YT Addict | OMgoodness Dolce does the same exact thing! I thought she was just weird! Now I know she is not alone....LOL! She will take one piecee at a time and go to her bed, lay down and chew it, get up and go back to her bowl, take one piece out and go to her bed......etc. I think "doesn't she ever get tired of walking back and forth, back and forth....." hahaha
