| Herc just got his 16 week shots and the vet told me to bring him back in 6 months for a bordetella shot. You get all the other shots every year with their well puppy check up. Rabies you can get every year or every 3 years, if you do the 3 year make sure you don't revaccinate for rabies until the 3 yrs is up. I got a shot record from my kid's ped and write Herc's shots in that just so that I have it at a glace. =)

| It's going to greatly depend on your vet and their protocols. I personally would NEVER vaccinate every year. It's way too much and simply an overload. Especially when it's been proven their puppy vaccines last for quite a long time in their system. I also only get DHPP and none of the corona, lepto or other unnecessary vaccines. I do DHPP at 8, 12 and 15ish weeks. Then rabies around 4 months. Then DHPP booster at one year as well as rabies booster. I will be giving him rabies every 3 yrs (because it's the law) but DHPP, I *may* never give again in his lifetime. Maybe once more (when he turn 4yrs old, it'll have been 3yrs since last DHPP) but other than that, no more. My vet said all shots she gave were good for 3yrs, but am unsure if I am even going to do that. I like Dr. Dodd's vaccine protocol.

Me too I follow the same exact protocal with my dogs I honestly don't know of any 1 year Rabies vaccine? I'm 99% sure it's all the same thing, maybe you're thinking of the Rabies booster they get one year after their first? After that it the law says every 3 (unless NY is different but I don't think so).

| After a one year booster, rabies is every 1-3 years varying by state (most are every 3 years). At least one company has a 1 year vaccine and a 3 year vaccine that are the same, just labeled differently. DHP will vary quite a bit. Old school is to do it yearly. A lot of vets are moving away from this. A lot are going to the AAHA protocol which is every 3 years. Some go minimalist (like Dr. Dodds) and never give it after a one year booster. Just research and understand what you're doing before doing it. I would not vaccinate a dog for DHP yearly. I also won't recommend the minilamist approach

| In NY rabies is required every 3 years after the initial 1 yr booster. My current dogs will get their other vaccinations at most every three years as well. My previous dogs followed this protocol and were very healthy and long lived.

| We do rabies (legally required) I do Lepto & Lyme. IMO it greatly depends on the area in which you are located and the exposure of your pup. In our case, we live in a city and we take walks around the harbor and in the parks. Rats, etc. are prevalent, and so I think Lepto is a necessity. Lyme is also a big issue in the county, and he spends a great deal of time at my parents outside where there are tons of deer. I did discuss with our vet and they advocated both as well. I do not get more than 1 at a time - so they are spaced out to try to minimize side effects. |

| My vet does Rabies and the distemper combo shot every 3 years. Bordetella yearly (for doggie day care). We don't give any others. |
