I do Lepto & Lyme.
IMO it greatly depends on the area in which you are located and the exposure of your pup. In our case, we live in a city and we take walks around the harbor and in the parks. Rats, etc. are prevalent, and so I think Lepto is a necessity. Lyme is also a big issue in the county, and he spends a great deal of time at my parents outside where there are tons of deer. I did discuss with our vet and they advocated both as well.
I do not get more than 1 at a time - so they are spaced out to try to minimize side effects.
