| Does not like water My little prince Skip will not drink water unless there is NutriCal somewhere in the water. We have tried to trick him in thinking thereis NutriCal in his water, but if he does not smell it, he will not drink water. Is too much NutriCal bad? It's the only way he will drink water. May I add, we try not to feed him too much NutriCal because we don't want him to be a NutriCal "junkie" Does anyone have any suggestions? I would really appreciate it. Thanks

| Is it tap water you have down for him or bottled water? I find that if there is toomuch chlorine as in tap water, they aren't too happy with it. Bottled water is not all it is marketed as and could have more bad stuff in it than you think. I boil the water for my dogs and keep it in a container in the fridge. Boiling removes any chlorine and they like it fine. And they like water right from the fridge but not if they have gotten overheated. Drinking water that is too cold for an overheated dog can create real trouble. They also love it when I hold the pitcher up to pour it so it goes into the dish like a fountain. I have also been told that throwing a little grated cheese on the surface can get them drinking. I have never done that and be sure to change it often if you do. My bet is there is something in the taste that is putting him off. |

| This is great. I've been giving him bottled water. Maybe this is the case. I am going to try the method of boiling water. I hope this works for my little Skip. Thanks so much.

| What about food? What kind of food are you feeding right now? When I switched my dog from kibble to home-cooked food, he pretty much stopped drinking water from his bowl...he'll drink straight water if it's really hot out and he's been outside for a little while, but other than that he gets so much water from his food, he is really not thirsty very often. (Sometimes I still worry about him because he does get so much exercise and plays so hard and it IS so hot out...so I mix extra water in with his meals). If you are feeding your puppy wet food, he may be getting so much moisture from his food, he may just not feel the need to drink. Maybe the Nutri-Cal makes the water taste like a treat so he drinks it even though he doesn't necessarily need it at the time. If he is very young, which he appears to be (and you might need to be more concerned about him easily getting dehydrated); if you are feeding him a food that he may be getting a lot of moisture from already, it may be worth giving the vet a call and finding out if they think. |

| i tried the cheese with cooper, he used his paw to get the cheese out, lol. I tried boiling water and filtered, he seems to like fiji water best mixed with some chicken broth, I boil the chicken and dont add any salt, the store bought even the less sodium still has 24%. This has helped cooper drink a little more water than he normally did. you might also want to try a food like stella and chewy where you add the water to it, cooper likes that also.
