| Pet Insurance I have Petplan insurance right now and it's coming up for renewal. I had a sick claim which was only covered for half of the total. Before I renew I wanted to know if anyone has another insurance that they have used and are happy with. |

| I have VPI for Buddy. I used it for the first time a couple months ago and was very pleased with the payment. I was reimbursed withing three weeks and just a ball park guess I got about 2/3 back less a $50.00 deductable. I pay $30.16 mo now after fours years. I think that was pretty good. I'm afraid to be without it. |

| I have ASPA insurance. Second year for Gus. I wouldn't use the word happy, but I must be satisfied with it since I just added my new addition to the plan. I got the level that covers part of the neutering cost.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | May I ask what actual plan you had with this company? I have theirs, too, but I took the maximum coverage with the mimimum deductible. I have not had to use it and hopefully never will but if it has been misrepresented to me, I would like to know. From my research their "cadillac" plan appeared to be the best. |

I hated VPI's reimbursement schedule while I was on it. When it came up for renewal I switched to Embrace, and I justed renewed for year 2 with Embrace. They have a few plan options but I chose a $200 annual deductible, and 20% co-insurance (so I pay 20% of the bill after my deductible is met). After those two conditions are met, I get 100% of the remainder back. I did not opt for Rx coverage or Dental coverage. I pay $45 total each month for my two boys. | |

YT Addict | i just dumped petplan I had them for three months. I think they are awful. I tried getting as much info as i could before i went with a pet insurance company. And they seemed like the best. I had a 5 month old puppy i just got 4 days before i got the plan. I told them she never seen a vet with me yet because the breeder did all her shots and took her to the vet before i got her. I wanted to get the pet insurance before i took her to the vet to be completely covered makes scene right, well no. They failed to tell me she needed a full vet check with me before i got it or previous vet papers and stuff. She is only 5 months and is healthy and i only had her for 4 days before i got the plan. i didn't use the insurance right away. i didn't need it till 2 months into it. I took her to the vet for the poops paid the vet in full then sent the claim in and they told me they needed previous health papers to finish the claim. I told them nobody told me she needed a vet check before i got her the insurance. She is so young it never crossed my mind that they would want other records of her. They should have told me but didn't . And they would have let me keep paying them every month but because she didn't see a vet before the plan everything i would have sent in would have been considered a pre existing condition. Even if i didn't send anything in for a year. I tried my best getting the best insurance i went with them because of the ratings they had. I asked as many questions as i could before i went with them. But if you don't ask it they wont tell you. They don't tell you anything they were to busy trying to get me to sign up now and sign my other dogs up all they wanted was money. Glad i started with the lowest plan i gave them 46 bucks For nothing! its unfair. Anything i would have sent in would been considered a pre existing condition. i would have took her to a vet before because she is in perfect health but nobody said a thing to me. I really think its a way they make free money from people. I'm just going to put the money i gave them each month aside, plus the deductible you have to pay each year, then you have to consider the percentage you would have to pay on each vet bill. You can do it yourself!! Pet insurance is not like human insurance you have to pay the vet in full then send the claim in and wait for them to approve it ,then wait for them to send you your reimbursement. Who has the money to pay the pet insurance company each month , then pay the vet bill in full every time, then send the claim in, then hopefully wait to get approved then finally maybe get reimbursed. If you can pay the vet bills in full then you can take care of your own pets vet bills. These pet insurance companies just steal from us. They just got 47 free bucks from me for absolutely nothing. Was a pricey lesson. It just makes sense to save on your own. Last edited by inabowbina; 11-13-2009 at 08:49 PM. |
