The vet's don't accept the insurance. You go to the vet and pay as usual, then you file a claim with the insurance carrier and submit your diagnosis/labs/etc, and proof of payment. They will confirm accuracy, and then send a check for the appropriate reimbursement amount.

I hated VPI's reimbursement schedule while I was on it. When it came up for renewal I switched to Embrace, and I justed renewed for year 2 with Embrace. They have a few plan options but I chose a $200 annual deductible, and 20% co-insurance (so I pay 20% of the bill after my deductible is met). After those two conditions are met, I get 100% of the remainder back. I did not opt for Rx coverage or Dental coverage. I pay $45 total each month for my two boys.
