| Kibble Question For years we had Franny on Wellness. She has been on Solid Gold for a few years and likes it. We had to discountinue Wellness because it was too rich for her. Made the mistake of keeping her on a wet mix and it caused some dental issues. Our 9 mo. old Butler is finishing Royal Canin Puppdog 30 and seems a bit disinterested, but very interested in her Solid Gold. Would love to get them on the same kibble. I know its a personal preference but hearing good things about Innova and Natures Bounty? Can anyone offer some good advice? Need something thats good for the teeth too, cannot bear another extraction nightmare! Thanks to those who helped us through that one! |

| I feel that Solid Gold is a quality food. What flavor/type of Solid Gold are you feeding? |

| Thank you. The adult formula. Do you know if it has benefits for the teeth like Royal Canin professes to have?? |

| I think Solid Gold is a good food, too. I've been feeding Nature's Variety & all their teeth look great.

| I would recommend any of the Solid Gold for the pup except the Solid Gold Holistique Blendz. As for the teeth, I don't know. There are supplements you can get and add to the food that are suppose to help the teeth. My vet feels that yorkies are prone to poor teeth, regardless of what they eat. I think the smaller yorkies just have more teeth problems because they do not chew as aggressively. |

| I feed Innova Puppy and my two LOVE it. It is an ALS (all life stages) formula so they can eat it on into adult hood. When I was looking for a food, I spoke with a rep at Solid Gold and they told me their Wee Bits formula says "adult maintence" but is an ALS formula also and they will begin to market it as ALS very soon. So, if you are feeding that formula, you can feed it to both. That was important for me as well - I have 11 month and 9 week old pups. They eat from the same bowl so I needed something they could both eat at the same time. I'm not sure what claims Royal Canin makes regarding the dental benefits of their teeth but I do know that any kibble is better than wet food. There are also tons of dental treats out there, too. Good luck!! |

| Right now my Jimi is fed Nature's Variety and he loves it, so I would definitely recommend the brand. Although I am not sure, I would guess that Royal Canin does not have great dental benefits. When Jimi was on it, he did not actually chew the food he just swallowed the bits whole. (and from what I have read on here, this seems to be a somewhat common problem with Royal Canin Kibble since it is so small) So.. although he really liked the food, I changed brands because he was not receiving any of the teeth cleaning benefits of chewing kibble. From what I have heard Solid Gold is a high-rated dog food and would probably be a good choice for you since your babies already like it. Hope some of this helps

| in my neverending quest for a quality food Maddie will like, I am wondering if anyone uses Avoderm? i have seen so many say their babies love Nature's Variety. I got samples for Maddie and she just turned up her nose at all flavors!! I also go some Nature's Variety raw medallions. I have been using one per meal mashed up with 1/8 cup of her Natural Balance small bites. She is eating this well, but I don't think she is getting any teeth cleaning benefit from the kibble since she seems to just gulp it down with the raw. If I don't mix it, she will eat the raw and leave the kibble. I had been mixing cooked chicken, turkey or hamburger with the kibble just to get her to eat it. |

| I'm right there with you regarding food issues. My girl is 9 mos is still unable to get her on a premium food. I have went through so many, I can't keep count in an attempt. I also tried Innova & Avoderm, nope...wouldn't eat either of those either..or any of the list of many. She will only eat Royal Canine, was on Puppy 33, but she is now on Yorkshire Terrier 28. I was just consulting a local pet store owner at lunch and she is going to work with me to see if we can get her on Merrick. Advised I take each piece of food and dip the corner in we can of it, along with her current food until I can slowly ween her off of the RC. She is so picky and only wants the RC is I put water on it, but I do drain it off before she has it. I believe her chewing hard food issue goes back to when she was spay, they also had to remove 13 baby teeth. My vet was so amazed, said he never seen quite that many left in these little ones, though most do retain a few.
