YT Addict | I wasn't being like that at all! but like it's one of those sensitive topics! How exactly do you bring it up... LOL I was kind of being jokingly (how do you bring up anal gland? without outright asking anal gland?) Oh the internet makes things difficult some times doesn't it! |

| If it's not Anal Gland then I would go to the vet. If you bathe her and she still smells it may be something medical and needs to be addressed. Good Luck |

| How old is your Yorkie?........ I know that when Shelbs & Sey were little, they had that "puppy smell" all the time........ before and after baths!! Of course they lose that puppy smell when they get older...

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Can you describe the smell and where is it coming from? It could an issue w/ yeast. Dogs should express their anal glands by themselves - I wouldn't start the manual practice of it unless there is a reason to do so - it can interfere w/ their natural ability to then do it. If your baby is having clogged anal glands - you may need to switch foods and/or check w/ vet that nothing structurally is wrong.

| Thanks for the replies, she's 14 weeks old -- what happened was she was on R.C.. but then randomly stopped eating it, and would run away if we put RC in front of her.. but she'd eat other stuff -- since we are in a country that's kind of 'lagging behind the world' we could only get pedigree junior dog food until we found Orijen in neighboring country of Hungary.. so 2 days she was on Pedigree, now she's on Orijen Puppy... she's going to see the vet tomorrow and will ask about those anal glands thing, so they clear it up... |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | oh she's still a baby. some have that stinky puppy smell even after a bath. Or is could be the food you were feeding. with bad foods or foods that done agree with their bodies a bad smell can ooze from their pores.

| Welcome to YT Welcome to YT , I have 3 furbabies and they always smell good after their bath , until they ran outside in the rain and get in the mud LOl. It's a great idea and check with the vet. I just got a e-video on baths and clipping their ears and hair and it's working for me. If u want more information on the video just PM me. My r on RC and r doing well , I put on it at least 4 x a week , some home made food for them( chicken, rice, eggs, veg, potatoes and carrots) everything is just boil except for the veg they r steam , I also use Cottage Cheese and Plain Yogurt. Good Luck! bark@ulater!!!! manina, mileymaxsasha |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Sometimes if they have teary eyes it is hard to get that smell to go away. Is it just by the face or all over?

Our Sophie's eyes water just a tiny bit, they don't even get crusty, jst wet and slight stain but cleans with a damp cloth. However, it sticks to no end!! At first we thought it was ears but could never smell it any stronger even sticking my nose in there. I finally had someone smell her nose below her eye and said that was it. Sure enough, it was just hard to pinpoint. Our Charlie's eyes tear much more, and it not cleaned will form a big, nasty crusty mess but has no smell whatsoever. I try to use Baby Shampoo and get her nose and below her eyes cleaned really well and that works. We also wipe both of their eyes ever couple of days, or when needed, with a washcloth wet with warm water. Sniff her ears and eyes directly and I bet you'll find the source. If not there, well, you decide if you want to sniff the other end. | |
