| Car Sickness??? Does anyone know how to help a puppy with car sickness? We had Eliza in the car for about 25 minutes yesterday and she had diarrhea and then threw up. She seems to be completely fine now. Do they just get used to riding in the car? |

| I had a pup with car sickness. Unfortunately I had to just confine him to a crate with a peepad on the bottom and let him throw up. It was sad to do that but I had to get him from place to place. Maybe someone will know of something you can give to try to help the sickness.

| Your vet can supply you with a medication for car sickness. Especially for long rides My Scottish terrier takes a natural supplement called Valerian root. You can buy it at any place that sells natural herbs. He is 14lbs and we give him a full capsule. You can open it and sprinkle a little on his food. It helps decrease the anxiety and calms them down naturally. It smells awful...but the dogs love it!!! My daughter will take one if she can't sleep. She says it relaxes her...not necessarliy making her sleep.

| Buddy got car sick everytime we took him someplace!! Then someone suggested we get him a doggie car seat so he can see out the windows and look around more, I was skeptical but it worked and now he never gets sick. We have the fidorido car seat and love it.

| I purchased it from thier website, I love it because the seat belt goes through the middle of the seat, more like a kids car seat. Plus the harness that comes with it attaches on each side of the dog to different straps, so if you did have to stop suddenly there is no chance of it putting any pressure on their neck.

| My vet suggested giving my yorkie children's liquid benadryl before long car rides. It works. She pretty much sleeps the entire time. But you have to figure out with your vet the appropriate amount based on your yorkie's weight.

| My Beanie gets car sick too and she's 4 years old! Any car ride over 20 mins is too much for her (so sad - and she's my 3 pound purse puppy!). If I plan to take her for a ride I don't feed her in the morning and that helps a bit. She will still get sick, not always, but won't throw up as much. I also find taking her for a walk before she gets into the car helps to get rid of that nervous energy and she doesn't always get sick. The car seat thing doesn't work for her because she always curls up into a ball and doesn't look out the window! I've even tried to hold her up to look out the window while in the car and she just looks down - ugh! I hope you have better luck with your baby than I do with mine. Let's hope Eliza grows out of it...I'm still hoping that Beanie will too.

| Just keep riding cause Lily grew out of her car sickness!! She got sick until she was about 6 months old and now she doesn't get sick at all anymore and she flies on airplanes and everything just fine!! I worried to death that she would never be able to go in the car or anything but she got over it!! GOOD LUCK!! |

| We give Luk and Lexi 1/4 tablet of Dramamine. We give it to them about an hour before we go somewhere. The longest car ride for them so far has been a little over an hour. This really made a difference. Lexi used to throw up and have diarrhea and it completely stopped. Looking out the window also helps. Good Luck! |
