| OK, What's the secret? How do you keep them still? Bella is almost 15 weeks today and really doesn't have enough hair for a topknot but today I tried to put a little clip in her hair and that was almost impossible. How in the world do you keep these little critters still enough to put in their top knot bows???? Does it get easier and are there any tricks I can use?

Donating YT 500 Club Member | It does get better, you have to be patient and persistent, but working a few minutes everyday grooming and she will get used to the process. Starting out, I always talked to Ruby while I was brushing and fixing her top knot, telling her how pretty she looked, what a good girl she is, etc. Also, you can give her treat pieces while you're grooming.

| My girls hated grooming and mommy sticking stuff in their hair What I did was wear them out before I started grooming them, playing fetch or something. Then I would rub them all over, giving them a massage. So they would be pretty relax, were when I brush them they will just fall asleep. I don't use a grooming table I will just sit my self down on my bean bag and when she put her chin on my leg I would caress her head and slowly sneak the band in. Works 95% of the time, sometimes they just are not having it.

| Practice, and lots of patients. Just keep trying, I have found bands work best. Sofia now gets upset if she doesn't have a top knot, she hate her hair in her eyes. |

| Not sure what the problem is with the signature, it has worked for a couple of weeks and now today it's odd?

| Well, I may have just been extremely blessed with Chloe, but she kind of taught herself to sit still for me when I go to put a bow in. Sometimes if she gets to turning her head to try and lick my hand, I'll talk to her in my "puppy" voice, asking her to be still and saying just a few more minutes, etc. The first several times I put a bow in her hair, I'd have my husband help out. Chloe would sit in his lap and I'd kneel in the floor beside him. He'd kind of keep her occupied and hold her head still for me while I fought with the bow. Then one day, he wasn't around and I didn't have the patience to wait so I just thought I'd see how it went. I had to try a couple of times because I'm still learning to operate the bands, but she was super patient and sat for me till I was finished. I also always let her sniff her the brush and bow before we get started. Once she realizes what it is, she doesn't fight to try to figure out what I'm doing with the top of her head. If I forget to let her sniff, then she's constantly trying to get her nose up to my hands and it's impossible. I don't think I put her first bow in until she was a good five months old either. I'm sure the younger they are, the more like little wiggle worms they become. Good luck!! It's sure worth it once you get them trained to be still, cause they look adorable with bows! Now that it is easier to up the bows in, I do it more often. -C Edit: Speaking of sigs...now mine's messed up too. Did Admin change something about the site recently??

Admin fixed the problem with the signatures, it wasn't just yours that wasn't showing up correctly, it was all the non-donating members. They are working now.

Also work on a 'stay" or "freeze" command, and they will know they have to just sit still and wait until you're done fussing over them. She'll get used to it eventually.

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | All good tips offered. Mostly it's us that needs the most patience. You could try to get some bows with a clip on the back of them .. Would make it faster to go in. Then sometimes just sit her on your lap or if you use the grooming table on the table and just gently cup her face - move her face back and forth praise lots if she doesn't struggle. Then gently brush all over her face and praise if she stays still for it.
