Default No more grooming for Rex!!!

Rex has been going to the same groomer every week for over a year. That is the only groomer he knows. However, this past Friday, the groomer called me and told me that she had cut Rex's neck and that he would need stitches. Of course I was frantic, drove to the groomer and took him immediately to the vet. He ended up getting 11 staples put in and will have to have them in for a little over 2 weeks. During this time, he cannot wear a harness, so he'll have to stay at home since we have a fenced in back yard. He usually goes with me to work during the week. But he always has on his harness and is on a leash when I take him out at work.
She did pay for the vet visit, but he hasn't really been himself (he's getting better), and the injury is putting a burden on me. (Instead of just being able to take him with me when I leave, I have to be sure not to leave him at home too long. We live about 25 miles from where I work. And-- giving him his antibiotics is a fight!)
He'll never go to another groomer again.... Should I just let it go at this point??? What would you all do?
I attached a picture of his neck.

I can understand why you would be angry. I would be too.

With that being said; accidents happen. I'm sure she didn't do it on her purpose and feels bad enough.

ETA: You should also be happy and grateful that she paid his vet bills. I'm sure most groomers wouldn't do that.

Oh dear! I'm so sorry! I hope the poor baby feels better soon. That's so cool that Rex goes to work with you, I wish my babies could come to school with me...

I wonder if you could fix some kind of harness like a belly band around just his tummy that you could attach a leash to take him out. What about a baby onsie with a ring sewn on the back...I'm not real crafty - I'll bet someone on yt has an idea. I hate for him to be away from his mommy when he feels badly.

Best wishes for a speedie recovery!

Have no fear, any bath or cut he gets from now on will be done by mama!!! Aside from the fact that Saturday morning I woke up to a poopy crate (which he NEVER does), he's been doing pretty well with it. I think the meds from the vet visit had his stomach upset. I just have to keep both eyes on him at all times to make sure he doesn't scratch it.
Below are a couple of regular pics of him. (before Friday!)

BTW-- she said something about his neck being so small.... True enough, he is a 3 pounder... but his neck has ALWAYS been that small!

Poor Rex! That could have been much worse on his neck like that. How in the world did she do that? Tell Rex that we hope he heals quickly and there are no problems. Geeezzzzz ... that a bigger cut than Toto's was when she was spade! Please give your little boy extra hugs and kisses for Toto and me.

OMG! I would be so POed at that groomer. I feel so badly for you and your little Rex. I don't know that there is much more that can be done in regards to that groomer. I'm glad that she took the responsibility to pay for the vet bill. I guess the only other thing I would do is inform all of my friends about the experience and let them decide if they still want to take their dog to that groomer.

I agree that someone on YT will come up with a creative way so that you can take him to work with you. I think that is very important especially during his recovery. Poor baby.

Hugs to both of you.....

Wow! I posted my last comment before I saw the pics of Rex. What a sweet puppy. He reminds me of my precious baby. I am so happy that he is healing. As far as the poop in the crate, I'm sure it is because he doesn't feel well. Oh, I just want to pick him up and cuddle him and tell him everything is going to be ok. He has a very good mom that loves him very much.

Oh my gosh! Who groomed him? You and I are neighbors (I live in Madison). I groom Jamie myself because there aren't any groomers in this area that'll let me and watch.

A Pretty Puppy on Highway 51-- it's in the same strip with Alumni House. I hadn't had a problem until now. I'm just gonna have to research and learn to do it myself.
