Donating YT 30K Club Member | I once again need YT prayers for my daughter Jessica has a form of Rheumatoid Arthritis and for years her knees would fill with fluid and her elbows were stiff and painful. The past couple of years it has ben her left knee. She would get it drained time and time again. Finally, she had surgery on it in September and did a biopsy. The biopsy showed that she has some rather rare disease as well called PVNS. They removed her synovial lining and Thank God the knee has been good. Shortly after that surgery her right new started the same thing. It has been a problem in years. She has had it drained 4 times in 5 weeks with the last one being Friday evening. She stopped over today and it is completely filled up with fluid again. She has seen 3 different orthopedic doctors for the recent drainings and each one has told her something different, ie PVNS isn't something you get in both knees, the surgeons notes are not difinitive that you have PVNS. I don't know what to do anymore, we just can't get this under control and her rheumatologists and orthopedic doctors don't seem to want to bother with finding out why this is happening. They keep throwing more scary drugs at her. She is going to one of the top doctors in Chicago area. So if you could please keep her in your prayers. I feel so helpless and with Ken gone I feel so alone in this. Thanks YT prayers are the best.

| Of course I'll keep praying and maybe another ortho opinion would help. A fresh mind on this if these experts seem stuck. Maybe there is a new guy in town who knows a little more what to do. Maybe you can call some of the medical schools in your area, ask if they know of anyone else in your area that might be having some success working with a couple of patients with that disease. Bless your sweet hearts - the both of you.

| Patti, I am sorry that Jessica isn't feeling well. Has she tried Enbrel for the RA? Sending hugs and prayers for you both. Valerie |

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | Good thoughts and blessings go out to both of you. Maybe check and see if there is doctor in another state that can be sent all the charts, films and anything else and look look at her case. They might be able to help. Big hugs to you both |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Thanks. I am going to look for another doctor who is willing to research her problems. She was on Humera, methotrexate and a strong anti inflammatory with little success. So they switched the Humera to Embrel with no better success. So after her surgery they put her back on Humera which isn't working.

| This breaks my heart, Patti. I think of Jessica so much and this serious health issue she is having to endure. I also think another opinion would be good. I feel so bad for both you and Jessie. Praying that you get an answer somewhere and a successful treatment program.

| Sending prayers for Jessica. I hope she can find a doctor that will get to the bottom of her problems. There has to be something they are missing.

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Sending Prayers for Jessica. She sounds too young to be going through this I too would see if there is another specialist that might take your concerns more seriously. At this point I would suggest as well as above a trial run on a gluten free diet. Plus no alcohol, no sugars. She needs to be on this for at least six wks to see if this might help. I am not familiar with this PVNS at all. But I am all to0 familiar with joint swellings et al, as I have had RA since 1995. Swimming, even if one can only walk in the water, or do some sculling is very helpful. Also even very mild bicycle work - by that I mean very low resistance on the pedals. Yoga is wonderful - a theurapeutic kind, along with breath work and meditation.

| So they did do a biopsy and the fluid was orangish I guess a rusty type color? Just wondering because RA causes water on the knees and elbows so that is why they LOVE to test me every year almost to see if I have RA knock on wood so far I don't. Finding good doctors is hard these days I know, I have one thing wrong with me that causes other issues so I have 5 different Dr's and nobody seems to be on the same page.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I got her in on a cancellation to her Rheumatologist and she said that the PVNS is rare and it is not treated by rheumatologists but orthopedic surgeons. She is ordering an MRI and then my daughter has to see her orthopedist to see if he will do surgery on the other knee now. Originally he said you don't get it in both knees and that her rheumatologist needs to get her RA under control. So were right back where we started. Guinness- her fluid is usually yellow but today it was all bloody probably because they have gone in 5 times in 5 weeks and drained it. Gemy- She is 27 and been dealing with this for years. She is overweight and she needs to lose weight but can't exercise and eats poorly. I have told her to ask her primary care doctor for a referral to a nutritionist but so far they haven't. There also appears to be some hormonal component that BC pills may help but her RA meds raise her blood pressure along with her being overweight so they won't put her on it. Thanks for all the prayers.I know they helped us get in today on a cancellation when it usually takes 3 months to get an appointment.

PVNS joint fluid has a slightly more orange-brown color to it than normal RA usually is yellow to greenish I believe and red just means infection. I know RA always causes fluid buildup and my Rheumatologist Dr is ho drains my knees some times just to check color instead of me making a trip to my Ortho Dr.
