No Longer a Member | Chloe's leg is doing something really wierd! Look at these videos. Chloe's left rear (driver's rear) leg is twitching. It looks like something is hurting the way she twitches it. However, she can walk, run, and jump without any problem. It doesn't do it all the time, mostly when she is at her bowl eating, or sometimes if she is laying in the "down" position and putting her weight on it. I can tell that she is walking lightly on that leg, so I think something must be hurting in it? Anyone ever see anything like this. Here are two videos showing it. | Oh my, I've never seen that before, but to me it looks like she's just getting a cramp in it. I hope that's all it is. How long has she been doing this?

| You know there's someone else out here that knows more than I do, but I think I'd just try massaging it for her. Keep a close eye on her and jot down when she's doing it and for how long - like you're already doing. If it increases in any way - then I'd call the vet. Maybe it's her food, or just growing pains. She doesn't make any noise when she does it, right? Well I hope she's ok and that someone else can offer some suggestions/answers. Good Luck! I'll be watching to see what happens.

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | hmmmmm, it could be that she's trying to kick away an itch on her leg or she might have a cramp in her leg. But it could also be a knee problem. She could have dislocated it and she's trying to pop it back into place. some dogs will do that leg move while running or walking to get their knee back in. try massaging the leg and putting a heat compress on it first because maybe its just a muscle twitch. if this continues for a few days i'd take her into the vet because she may be having knee problems

No Longer a Member | I originally thought of the itch thing, but since she's been doing it every time she goes to the food bowl--for about 5 hours now--I've ruled that out. When she's at the food bowl, she seems to do it when she wants to crouch her hind legs. That to me suggests it must be a problem in her knee. I hope she doesn't have luxating patellas, though I have no idea what the symptoms of that are. I felt her leg all around, and she doesn't yelp when I move it in any position. I'll try massaging it and see what happens. |

No Longer a Member | Update... Chloe's leg has been twitching a lot more today. Her regular vet (and all the other local vets) were all booked today, so I had to take her to Banfied ($$$!!!). It's not broken or anything, and he felt her patellas and did not feel any luxation, but he said to do a thorough exam he'd have to sedate her and really move it around a lot (I guess that can be painful, hence the sedation). That and x-rays will be a few hundred dollars, so since she's not in pain right now, I'm going to wait a couple of days and see if it gets better, then I'll try and get her into her regular vet if we have to leave her and do x-rays. This is so strange. I hope it is nothing that plans on staying. She already is a fussy eater. Now every time she wants to crouch at her food bowl, her leg starts going berserk! Please keep your fingers crossed that it was just a sprain from jumping or something, and that it will go away in a couple of days... |

| Poor Chloe! I wonder if getting her one of those stands for her bowls would help? Maybe she just pulled a muscle in that leg during some rambunctious playing? In any case, I hope it's nothing and will just go away

No Longer a Member | Well, today was encouraging. She twitched a little in the morning, but that is all for today. The rest of the day, her leg seemed normal. She must have jumped off of something and hurt it; either that or my mom stepped on her when she came over the other day--whenever my family comes over she ends up getting stepped on. But I can't help but be afraid that it is something that will come back again. |
