| Nasal Mites -- Won't take his medicine Ruger has nasal mites and the vet gave me his medicine in a syringe that I'm supposed to put in that pocket in his cheek. He's 14 lbs so he's pretty strong and he won't let me do this. Any advice? Tips? Thank you very much. |

| Grab him by the scruff & one ear at the same time & he'll be still. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | It can nearly impossible to give meds to some of these kiddos. Is it just you, or do you have someone to help? If just you, you may want to take pup to vet and ask them to show you restraint options to use for this. OR, ask what other form the med can come in...OR, can you put the liquid onto wet food and have him absorb it that way...?

| My mom used to have to inject her yorkies liquid meds in a soft dog treat. It worked. You might want to talk to your vet about other options.

| Thanks all. I called the vets office again to get some ideas and one of the techs told me there is no reason to get it into that cheek pocket -- "just squirt it in his mouth" -- which makes the whole process much easier. BTW, the scruff and ear hold helped a lot even with two of us, so thanks for that. |

| For nasal mites your veterinarian should be able to just give your dog Bravecto, Nexgard, or Simparica an oral flea/tick medication. They have been shown to get those mites. |
