| Lump under skin on back leg I was holding my yorkie last night while massaging his back leg (he had luxating patella surgery on it). While doing this I felt something small and round. I have never felt this before so I grabbed my other yorkie and felt her leg and I don't feel this on her leg. The bump is under his skin and cannot be seen, so it's not protruding or anything like that. Of course I immediately googled and found something about fatty deposits. His fur is normal, he acts normal and eats like always. No change in attitude/personality. I was just wondering if anyone has had any problems with bumps like this? I don't know if I should just wait until his next shot appointments next month or take him in now. I feel like I've been to the vet so many times this year and I don't want to overreact. Any advice or similar experiences? Thank you |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Hard to say what this could be, but dogs do get lots of benign types of lumps. Many get sebaceous or follicular cysts. I'd have it looked at next time you're in.

| Uni has had several bumps and lumps. We had three of them biopsied and they all came back as follicular cysts. So after three times of $100+ tests, we decided that if anymore bumps show up to keep and eye on them and if they get larger or grow in a strange shape then we would get those tested too. But until then, no. However, if you have never had any bumps on her before, I would have it checked out next time you go in. Unless of course it starts getting bigger, then I would bring him in beforehand.

| Thank you Thanks everyone for your reply!! I have decided to keep an eye on it and if it gets bigger I will go see the doctor immediately. My yorkies are due for their yearly shots in August so I will bring it up then. Again, thank you for replying. I am so happy to be apart of yorkietalk and it really helps to hear from others who have had similar experiences. |

| My yorkie has had a lipoma (fatty tumor) on his back since he was around 2. If its that its not a concern really. But keep an eye on it for any other developments and mention it to the vet if its concerning. Another weird mole looking lump my yorkie had wound up being a herpes wart!! That was on his nose and after a week or so it just fell off. Very bizarre. My little guy has been through it all!

| Talking about fatty tumors... my dad had one growing on his back when I was a child. I remember he did NOT want to go to the doctor to get it checked out. My mom said it was small for years then suddenly it got huge and she forced him to go to the doctor. It ended up being nothing (and dad said I TOLD YOU!) but i remember how huge it was and he got stapled back up, yuk! If it gets really big all of a sudden, def get it checked out.

| Update I took him to the vet when it was time to have his vaccinations and the vet said it was a lymph node. It's totally normal and nothing to worry about. He also told me that Ally has them too it's just since he is smaller it's easier to feel it on him. Thanks everyone for your replies |
